For their ninth record TRUSIK enlists the German producer bhed whose long form constructions blend ambient, dub, techno, and dubstep into forms that stretch each genre’s signifiers to their breaking points.
The monumental opener “eighteenhundred” melds sun-drenched synth work onto a meandering rhythm that gives way to a dub techno influenced beat that morphs into a jittering whirr of glitch-like percussive brushstrokes and serpentine sub weight.
Title track “apatheia” harkens back to ’08 Peverelist with a strident march and groovy Jamaican bass weight as the mixing board comes alive with fading guitar chops that encircle themselves like an ouroboros.
Lastly, “east” is a loose homage to Augustus Pablo’s mystical “East of the River Nile” with a cloudy fog of one-drop rim shots echoing into infinity and a steppa’s amble.
As with label mates Tremble and Zygos, Ben LaDieu is called upon once more to grace TRSK009 with his dense, hallucinogenic artwork that melds the mundane and surreal.

TRUSIK travels eastward again to meet Back to Chill mainstay HELKTRAM whose technoid dubstep constructions have been operating under the radar with just two releases from Banana Stand Sound and Encrypted Audio back in 2016. That is until now.
Sounding like the production line of a steel plant, “Suggestive Effect” gallops with metallic sonics and coilgun snares as the low end ripples and undulates speaker cones apart in its single minded purpose.
“Insecure” fizzes with electromagnetic hum, airlock whispers, clinical atmospherics, and the sonar blips of techno while remaining firmly within the dubstep realm, that is, until midway through when the bassline morphs into something more fluid than the half-time stomp of most dubstep.
Finally, “Iron Box” is a dyed-in-the-wool wobbler. Possessed only by a simple, mindvirus melody, the track lets the sub handle the heavy lifting with the immediately groovy low end science that is within dubstep’s DNA.
Having seen major support from Joe Nice and Goth-Trad across the years, HELKTRAM and Japanese dubstep in general needs more praise for their tireless work in making dubstep a truly global genre. With their eighth release, TRUSIK hopes to expand the record boxes of DJs everywhere and showcase HELKTRAM’s prowess in sub bass science.

From the mouldy basements that Zygos inhabited, TRUSIK turns eastward to Back to Chill cohort and recent GourmetBeats artist, CITY1, for a brand new three track EP that pushes dubstep beyond its current 808 and trap leanings into something far more interesting.
The title track “Buluu” shimmers and glides effortlessly with a hang-drum melodic rhythm that surrounds itself against cascading snares and hi-hats that echo off into infinity for a meditative voyage towards Takamagahara.
“Bega”, on the other hand, leads us down a cybernetic tunnel of pneumatic sub-bass concussions that thrust the listener into a deeper, more augmented version of the world comprised from lines of computer code.
As the dust settles, CITY1 initiates “Cosmic Chant” which has a soft, lulling piano figure rising upward from what is left of the ruins until it cracks into a staggering construction of melodic bleeping and fluctuating sub-bass lines that roll and crest like the waves of the Pacific Ocean.
On the visual side of this release, TRUSIK has brought onboard Japanese artist Hisanori Yagi whose surreal, yet familiar artwork evokes and compliments the mystical sonic world that CITY1 has created for our seventh record.

After the hypnotism of Pugilist’s Chrysalis EP, TRUSIK enlists Rarefied cohort Zygos for a three track EP that brings his dank, claustrophobic and horror-film atmospherics to bare.
“Direkt”, in collaboration with Teffa, features soundclash chatter, but morphs into something quite different with ghastly wails in place of your typical dubstep wobs and growls. As the song develops further, the ghoulish caterwauls take a melodic approach and become a fiendish melody for the damned.
On the flipside, “Run Down” sees Zygos take a techier route with a pneumatic bassline and cybernetic grit that deserves to be blared at an inadvisably loud volume by a 22nd century bōsōzoku gang in Neo-Osaka.
Lastly, “Drained” guides you down a dark stairwell into an underground pit fight with its bone-snapping snares and abysmal bass-weight leaving you bruised and battered.
Featuring nightmare fuel from the mind of Ben LaDieu (last seen on Tremble’s release) who again graces TRUSIK with his brand of dense and horror vacui line work to match Zygos’s nauseating soundscapes.

TRUSIK Recordings rings in the new year with their latest release from Melbourne’s Pugilist whose prolific output has landed him on prestigious labels like Artikal, Modern Hypnosis, Green King Cuts and now TRUSIK Recordings. Jumping between the interzone of “bass music” and dubstep, Pugilist crafts four tracks that blend his love of dubstep, dub and techno into an EP that delivers new discoveries with repeated listens.
“Truncated Kicks” is formed from thunderous offset kicks and warehouse scanning sonar pulses, building into a monstrous construct comprised of clipped percussion that slowly morphs into a hypnotic roller as it rushes skyward. “Reformation” slows down the tempo towards the 130bpm range for a brooding, elliptical rhythmic workout as dubby organ vamps ratchet up the tension and urge the groove forward.
“Chrysalis” flits between dubstep and techno as the track blossoms around lavender pads while digital birdsong echoes. Soon a techno-esque 4x4 kick enters the frame until barely contained bass weight leaves the dance gasping for breath. Closing out TRSK005, “Pheromone” is another slow burner that conjures images of the early morning sunrise or neon lit alleyways. Gleefully playing with dubstep’s halfstep stomp and the rolling nature of techno, the track easily dances between the two genres in a delicious synthesis of both.
With appropriately dense and psychedelic-inspired artwork from frequent graphic collaborator Leftanderson, Pugilist’s Chrysalis EP marks a new chapter for TRUSIK as a fledgling label.

Fresh off the heels of Mesck’s apocalyptic Doomsayer EP, TRUSIK teams up with the Slovenian duo DubDiggerz, whose productions have landed themselves on labels as diverse as Joe Nice’s Gourmet Beats to Jack Sparrow’s Navy Cut. TRSK004 features two tracks that have been singularly honed to be played only on the finest sound systems, “Bōgu” and “Dark Dawn” are one hundred percent high grade dubstep.
“Bōgu” is sleek, efficient and contemporary. Comprised of steel and concrete, seething with pent-up aggression of a city on the brink. Fueled by diesel fumes and looking to cause harm, “Bōgu” stomps and claws its way out of the bassbin.
Whereas “Bōgu” possess an urban veneer, “Dark Dawn” harkens to a more neolithic time. Marching with a militant intent, clarion drones arc skyward like buzzards picking through a battlefield as tribalist percussion sets the marching tempo for phalanxes on the warpath.

The long awaited third release from TRUSIK Recordings welcomes Chestplate and Crucial Recordings artist Mesck into the TRUSIK fold. This time it felt appropriate that the breadth of Mesck’s work be highlighted for full display.
The Doomsayer EP features three original tunes, a collaboration with up and coming producer Kālī, and original artwork from Mesck himself for the release. Across the length of the Doomsayer EP, the now Colorado based artist showcases his hyper detailed and neon-lit take on dubstep as the soundtrack for the end times.
“Doomsayer” leads us towards the road to hell, the unwashed flagellants of LA clogging the streets with something malignant as the hills of Ventura County burn to cinder and ash. “Psychodrama” coaxes the tendrils from an awful nebula, breaking the smog-encrusted skyline — its squirming melody burrowing itself further into the mind in an effort to agitate psychotic behavior.
As the melody of “Psychodrama” disjoins the barrier between rationality and insanity, “Ill Behavior” sees the whole of Los Angeles lose themselves into a frenzied and wanton rage. The gnashing of teeth, the pulling of hair, the gouging of eyes and the boiling of skin as the Kali Yuga consummates. As the City of Angels takes its final gasps, “Pills & Chains” shepherds the wretched survivors across the highways choked with burned-out car hulks towards the sulfuric gate.

After debuting their label with the return of Headhunter, the TRUSIK team returns with their second vinyl release from the ever-illusive Ruffcut faculty member Tremble. Tremble has quietly made his presence known with reggae influenced tunes that are simultaneously roughly hewn, yet meticulous detailed in sound design. For TRSK002, Tremble gives us “Too Much Terror”, which with all the daily attacks on civilians across the nations of the world, seems prescient. What starts out as sound system inspired roller slowly morphs into a technoid fusion of dread sub weight and dub techno chord flourishes. On the flipside, Tremble simmers the tempo down to the 130ish range with “Bwoy”. Dancehall indebted sub detonations output cut vicious shapes while filtered Rasta portents gradually build into a technoid climax. Two killer sides for the concerning DJs! For TRSK002, TRUSIK has incorporated artist Ben Ladieu’s immaculate pen and ink drawing into the overall aesthetic of the release. Ladieu’s work is often dense, multi-layered and full of little hidden details that draw comparisons to 80’s DIY punk flyers and Zeke Clough’s contributions to seminal dubstep label Skull Disco and Woe to the Septic Heart.

It’s been four long years since anything has surfaced from Headhunter, the last being 2011's “Clone” on the Bristol based Black Box imprint. But label-by-way-of-online blog, TRUSIK has secured two sought-after dubs from the man himself. In our first ever vinyl release, TRUSIK has collected “Parallels” and “Stand Alone” in a super limited 300 pressing with appropriately techno-infused psychedelic artwork from our long time collaborator Leftanderson.
“Parallels” is a building technoid monster that is armed with pistoning sub-bass dives as acidic 909s percolate through the cryo-mist atmospherics of a long derelict space ship that stills sends out a distress beacon. Quicksilver percussion ratchets up the tension as Headhunter tastefully affixes Tubby-esque fx to the proceedings.
On the flip “Stand Alone” is a strident roller with VHS-ripped kung-fu samples ala Horsepower Productions and an even more paranoid perc workout that features filtered amen-breaks, meditative conga patters and rapid fire hi-hat gun fire. A TR-909 menaces at the edges, watching for an opportune moment to strike only to be subsumed by the enveloping, spectral aeriforms.
Both are sure-fire floor killers and a magnificent return to form that made Headhunter the king of dubstep in the first place.
