Just over a year after his last solo project on The North Quarter, FD returns to the label with ‘Pleasure Rooms’. For this four-track EP, the London-born producer once again shows off his bass line dexterity, along with his trademark grooved percussion and mood-building samples. Heavier, grime-reminiscent tracks ‘Shawn Kemp’ and ‘Mama Told Me’ featuring Bristol MC Hella are combined with a more melody-driven, colourful sound present on ‘Double Drizzle’ and ‘Sails’. Following the major success of his minimal, experimental project LIN000 with Satl, this EP further shows the wide-ranging progress FD has been making in recent years.
Named after the Tottenham venue where FD went to his first rave, ‘Pleasure Rooms’ pays homage to the place that spawned his love for Drum & Bass. FD: “Pleasure Rooms was an old rave venue in Tottenham. My main memory is seeing Brockie & Det in a small room, sweat dripping off the ceiling and columns with mirrors on, totally fogged up. And going fucking mental. Being totally immersed in the music and the vibe, super excited and just hyped.
My Pleasure Rooms EP was made with thoughts of these kind of raves and parties in mind as this is a vibe and sound I've been enjoying quite a lot again recently - and it was such an important time for my love of Drum & Bass.

Veteran Drum & Bass producer Zero T returns to The North Quarter as he teams up with blind jazz pianist Andre Louis (PKA Onj) on their conceptual album Kilburn.
Having fortuitously discovered that they are neighbours in autumn 2021, Zero T & Onj began writing music together almost immediately. The duo's chemistry was undeniable as Kilburn was written over the course of just three months. The darker, heavy side of Zero T’s sound is present on 'Some Type of Way' and 'We Juggle Different', both featuring Neo Soul singer Terrell King. More delicate, soulful tracks include “Everyday Struggles” featuring Jordan Max, “Rodeo Drive” featuring Mercy's Cartel and “Darkness” featuring Steo. Toulouse's master craftsman Redeyes delivers his fourth album “Selfportraits” on Amsterdam imprint The North Quarter. Known for his deeply detailed, emotive take on Drum & Bass, the French pioneer has a career spanning over 15 years. After three previous projects on The North Quarter – including 2018's opus “Broken Soul” - he now returns with the profound “Selfportraits”. Written almost exclusively during the Covid-19 crisis, this album captures a time spent in sheltered reflection. Drawing on both musical influences and personal beliefs this album is both deeply personal and touches on important issues of our times.
“The album was made during the lockdown and it all came together quickly. I was just spending time at home with my kids, splitting time between making music and home-schooling. It was just a time where I felt sheltered and comfortable with the music just flowing naturally,” Redeyes explains. “My music is not just dance music. I've always seen my art as something that transcends the dance-floor, and all the greatest artists in the world - from painters to singers to actors - have always been engaged in important fights. So why don't we do it, why are we not as engaged as our favourite artists from other genres are? Its time to make the difference, its time to be the change. This album is musically what reflects the core of my Drum & Bass sound. But this album is not just my own self-portrait - it's also the one of the guests. They speak the truth from their hearts out loud.”
This album is a journey through vintage soulful Drum & Bass, soundscapes and beats and sees Redeyes at his most inspired. Through ten carefully pieced together tracks, the listener is transported through a mosaic of influences and emotions. Irish Drum & Bass veteran Zero T returns to Amsterdam imprint The North Quarter with his “Former Self EP”. Following up from his ambitious multi-genre project “Baby Grand”, Zero T now strips things down to a focused five-track project that manoeuvres through a broad range of styles within Drum & Bass. From his Soulful reinterpretation of Mango x MathMan's “Lonely Night” to the dubbed out weight of “Clash” - with Bristol-based rising producer Myth - this is a well balanced EP that displays Zero T's expansive vision and is a testimony to his growth as a producer and technician.
"I had a number of aims with my second EP for The North Quarter” Zero T explains. “While my first release 'Baby Grand' was an opportunity to explore working in different styles of music and utilising live instrumentation, I wanted this second release to be stripped back to basics: five Drum & Bass tracks that cover the spectrum of what I like within this music. There's two vocal tunes in the classic 'Liquid' style, one tune that could easily be described as Jump Up, a Dub/Jungle in fluenced track with Myth and finally what I would call a “listening track"; something not necessarily designed for DJs/clubs. If someone wants to know what I stand for, then this release says it all."

Cult favourite Submorphics delivers his long awaited debut album “Kodak Dreams” on Amsterdam imprint The North Quarter. 15 year veteran producer Greg Axelrad has been one of America's premiere exports when it comes to Soulful Drum & Bass. His unmistakable 'smoked-out' take on the genre has made him a fan favourite for years. After his The North Quarter debut “Detroit Haze” early 2018, he now returns with his most ambitious project yet: “Kodak Dreams”. Written during a time of great personal highs and lows, his debut album is easily his most personal body of work. Submorphics explains. 'Cherished childhood photos reminded me of my roots: funky breakbeats and lush soul samples that I blasted out of my cheap boombox long before I knew what a sampler was. These old photos ended up deeply inspiring the album sessions, and even started permeating my dreams as I slept each night.”
A multi-genre piece that features vocals from frequent collaborators Big Brooklyn Red, SelfSays, T.R.A.C. and Christina Tamayo, brings together Soulful Drum & Bass and LA / Detroit flavoured Beats with an easy elegance.
