The first release on the newly formed Stand Firm Hi-Fi label comes from the mighty Equinox, the head of the Scientific Wax family. With over 20 years in the business, and releases for Inperspective, Bassbin, Metalheadz, Paradox Music, Subtle Audio, Intasound, Brain Records to name a few, this man is known as a master at his craft and we are very proud to have Equinox set the standard for future Stand Firm releases.
“Hard Meditation” takes you on a journey into the jungle of your mind, with pads, bleeps, and atmosphere simmering over some heavy heavy drum break, chopped and rolled out in fine style with sub bass more felt than heard.
“Hold Jah Hand” is a work of traditional style Jungle music in the musical lineage of Dub and Soundsystem. Words of wisdom echo and reverberate over the heavyweight champion of breaks, Amen, Brother, in a flow of pads and positive vibes, while a warm, uplifting B-line powers the whole tune.
Stand Firm Hi-Fi vol. 2 comes from Martian Man - A student of the game who has built up a solid reputation as a producer with strong releases on Scientific Wax, Eastern Promise, Omni Music, and Monochrome recordings.
“KeepYour Dread (Version One)” is a Cold Sweat masterpiece, with hints of hardcore and dub in true martianMan style. He takes the vibes to an otherworldly level by building the tune up slowly and steadily, going through the drums, bassline, pads, and stab, and letting them breathe, before fusing them back together with key timing and letting the track loose.
“Keep Your Dread Remix” is coming from none other than the Rupture heavyweight and all around vibesman Double O. One of the most talented artists out there, he truly compliments version one by taking the original and reconstructing it with his signature style of atmosphere, heavy-hitting subs and firing Amens.
The third release from Stand Firm Hi-Fi showcases Rumbleton. 2 cuts of raw drum & bass Junglism, crafted in the traditional breakbeat form, presented on limited edition 12” vinyl.
“Kings Chamber” is a journey into drums, with 2 choice 70’s breaks carrying the brunt of the work. Warm pads take you away into a smokey atmosphere of percussion & bleeps. A running commentary of soundsystem wisdom flows with the track and proclaims Junglist virtues over top of a sub bass that rumbles your structure down to the molecule.
“I Like You” - An off-world soundscape lays the foundation for a storming assault of Amens, on fire off the shoulder of Orion, pads like glittering C-beams, and sub weight that could either be a benefit or a hazard to humanity.
