Traversing the tempo range, ASC is renowned for his versatility and ability to remain a consistent sign of quality no matter what sound he takes on. With his most recent foray into the Grey Area sound and his own unique take on Techno for labels like Horo, Semantica, ARTS and his own Auxiliary, ASC’s sound repertoire has expanded and been wholeheartedly embraced by a wider audience.
The Abyssal Plain sees James briefly returning to the tempo with which he initially perfected his craft. The Siren and Pyrrhic Parts I & II reboot the 85 / 170 Tempo with an advanced retake on the approach he mastered. Acidic scapes and soaring harmonies colour the discernible ASC frames. This is music to get lost in. Currents is an upfront 128bpm version of the ASC sound, a Grey Area / Techno blend that completes this formidable futurist quartet.

Homemade Weapons has established himself as one of Drum and Bass’ most vital artists, sculpting a signature style that has garnered wide ranging support from Om Unit through to Calibre, Loxy and on to Donato Dozzy. With his Negative Space debut LP for Samurai Music, Homemade Weapons planted a jagged flag, attracting critical acclaim and igniting a new era of breakbeat manipulation.
Gravity further expands this approach, moving forward his own hyper-advanced amenism while maintaining his position firmly between what people are calling ‘modern jungle’ and the stripped back minimalism of the deep half time sound. Drafting in fellow weaponizers Artilect, Torn, and newcomers Torana for collaborations adds congruous variance to the searing Gravity spice.
While many artists in his immediate musical vicinity concentrate on going deeper, Homemade Weapons continues to make focused, stripped back tunes that have the weight and momentum to work on the dance-floor.
As the first Samurai Music artist LP of 2019, Gravity shows a singular talent confidently moving the creative arrow in drum and bass forward.
Each 12" plate is a different colour on the first press vinyl, any repress will be a different colour.

Samurai Music's Russian connection - Saint Petersburg-based Torn has refined his hi-tech dread to maximum efficacy since his solo vinyl debut on Samurai sister label Shiro in 2017. The Internal EP sees his sculpted malaise reaching a creative peak, completing construction on a distinctive desolation he now inhabits like a second skin. 'Acheron' - an inevitable collaboration with Homemade Weapons, sees these two masters of menace fusing their rhythmic prowess into a sleek, malicious tear, while the 3 solo tunes display Torn's newfound artistic maturity with pride and vigour. Sharpened breakbeat spears are deftly welded to Torn's pounding pulses of gloom, with lead track 'Internal' being the most dominating stylistic showcase on the EP.
