Kicking off the Ruby Hill's label with it's first release is Birmingham's, NightMoves.
The Concrete EP is a four tracker, with 'Dark Room' sleazily bass slapping it's way across the dance floor to you, building and oiling you up before flourishing into the synth laden house stomper that will work you into a tizzy, while 'Once Upon a Time in Guilin' zones in on a trippy far east setting, drawing you in before an acid takeover.
Flip it over and find a more downtempo NightMoves with 'Varnish', a heavily layered track with synth, bass and percussion brimming over, building from bell's, synths, kicks and hi-hats up to a house groove while 'Cloud Walking' squelches it's way through trippy echoing synths and invites you to enjoy its deep distorted journey through the skies K-clouds.
Limited to 300 copies, housed in a hand stamped manilla brown sleeve with separate artwork and stickers.

Described as “the start of something special” by Simon Shreeve / Mønic and “full of depth and texture” by Kamikaze Space Programme, Other Form’s debut EP ‘Unmarked Paths’ lands on the artist’s Unknown Movements label on 12th May. The EP’s five tracks all began life as jams on analogue hardware, and there’s a fat, noisy, intentionally-imperfect feel to each. Amidst the ’floor-conscious urgency of the two sides’ opening pieces, the other three explore slower, darker territory — and all are glued together by a foreboding atmosphere rich in sepulchral reverb and analogue hiss. Killawatt calls it “wonderfully fluid techno.”

Comprised of Bristol based sound artists Adam Winchester and Christopher Jarman,
Dot Product comes to light in a swathe of noise, tone and texture.
Through years of research and experimentation the duo have sought to explore the creative potential from the inaudible fog of electromagnetic radiation, the internal resonance found in the negative space of an object, the circuitry of discarded electronics, and other such less-travelled paths of sound generation. In harnessing these clandestine sonics and bringing them within a listenable range, the resulting collages of sound have been shaped into a form that nods to the legacy of uncompromising British experimental electronic music, from early industrial savagery to bass-heavy soundsystem pressure. Such reference points are abstract though, for within the truly unique array of sources at their disposal, Winchester and Jarman have a new dialect in which to communicate.
Crucially, while there may be a scientific approach at the heart of the Dot Product methodology, the results are far from clinical. There are subversive rhythms aplenty throughout the album, from the jagged ripples of “Skafander” to the slow, dread-fuelled march of “Springs”. There is also space for touches of melody; “Atmosphere Processor” swoons with blue-hued melancholy, while “Ice Patches” stalks on an ominous bass mantra.
After sharing the initial results of their research, the pair performed select live shows in Bristol and London, as well as being commissioned to create a sonic interpretation of Swedish horror film Let The Right One In. This debut album on Osiris is the culmination of these initial steps, these 9 tracks representing the most complete document of the Dot Product sound to date.

Vis-Viva is the surprise of movement, the wonder that leads to imagine new possible configurations of the present, objects created with materials not yet invented move in aseptic and virtual spaces without respecting the normal laws of physics. Used for the first description of kinetic energy in elastic collisions the historical term Vis-Viva titles second OOH-sounds release from VORONOI, a work inspired by post humanism literature, experimental observation and speculative evolutionism where sounds and motion seem to face over the contemporary techno-scientific corpus from a positive angle.
Can sounds behave like particles do? How sound reacts and transforms if treated like organic matter? VORONOI tries to answer back by sculpting a precise and complex sound design in an anti-climax approach to composition. Rhythms are free, unpredictable, tracks always seem to respect some grammars of club-music but abstracting from its normal timbres and denying its conclusions to face a digital fantasy.
Vis-Viva’s experiment is completed by an extended 6 minutes re-work track by electronic music producer and multidisciplinary artist Jesse Osborne-Lanthier (Halcyon Veil, Raster-Norton, WTN?) who reassembles VORONOI’s sonic palette into his unique style. The result is as if everything has traveled outside the lab to be exposed to the outside world.
T-1000’s suspended atmospheres set the Vis-Viva experiment with pulverized granular sound debris, occasional rhythmic pulses and reverberant movements. Built over two distinct parts, in which the second seems to deny the first, SPHERO 2.0 forces a dynamic dialogue between raw and ultra processed sonic material. Elements orbit around a fast and joyous drum pattern that builds up in Marbles, a more complex experiment in which particles slow down and accelerate in chaotic, though controlled, collisions to generate micro melodic bursts.
B-side opens with innovative artist Jesse Osborne-Lanthier who re-works Vis-Viva's raw recordings in an apparent disassembled hierarchy, layering the original sonic elements over an amazingly sounding, erratic texture made out of what sounds like iper-processed field recordings. Gumbody Flash closes with the slower, uncanny precision of an out-of-battery mechanism, whose degree of freedom decreases as its elastic repetitions get looser and contradictory.

Bristol based ‘Ment’ steps up again for Honey Glazed Records with two cuts of melodic house that are packed with life and soul. A side - ‘A Kind Of Us’ sets off its warm grooves with shimmering synths and a looping melodic vocal sample. The track builds, wiggles and morphs until an infectious trumpet hook breaks out. Ments’ ability to carve out warm and heart-felt melodies is clear on both of his tracks on this record. The B Side - ‘My Days’ – sees him use a wider array of instruments to provide a more jazz influenced track. Amongst the dipping and diving bass and masterful tinkering on the keys, he still retains the dance floor in mind. The result is a very intelligent piece of music that will still get the floor moving.
On the other side of this 12inch comes three quite contrasting remixes of ‘A Kind Of Us’. The emerging talent ‘Ross From Friends’ brings his trademark lo-fi melodic touch. He creates his own unique hook, with synths from the original only used as a backdrop. Troy Gunner – fresh from an exciting release on Monki’s Zoo Music, wastes no time putting his stamp on the original. The track opens with a beefy, hypnotic bass loop. Troy’s trademark driving and menacing drums soon come swirling in. He then manages to twist the originals summery, warm synths into a dark and eerie break down before ramping up the hypnotic drums and bass again. Ramu returns to Honey Glazed with a funky 303 jam over cut up synths from the original.
The result is a versatile EP that caters for lots of different moods and styles, all packaged inside a sleeve designed by talented Bristol artist and frequent Honey Glazed collaborator - Rosie Carmichael.

Jake Conlon – Black Heath Works
Chugging, battering kicks settle the melodic three note loop and form a solid bottom end. Star of the show is the frantic, high pitched chime and marauding, fizzing distortion fit to mangle the head. Tinges of acid and delay tease out the overtones and harmonics, filtered tighter and tighter and finally released, letting the groove play on, relentless and slowly morphing back to the original pattern.
Jake Conlon – Brick House
Shades of Detroit in the intro, echoing, filtered percussion and a suggestion of the baseline to come. Heavy kicks and layered breakbeat obscure none of the soul, accenting and powering up the notes. Infectious percussion and glitchy melody fades in and out, setting the vibe and keeping interest high. You chase the focus, the second notes backed by a subtle, sparkling echo, was that an intake of breath?
Hoth System – Motion Detector
An extraordinary percussive workout. Chattering, accented snares lead into a sparse industrial arrangement with a skipping hat keeping the pace up high. A refreshing high bass note and a perfectly restrained sub keeps pace with the pummelling kicks throughout. A track where small changes have huge impact, complexity and intelligence emerging from what at first seems simple.
Hoth System – Within an Inch
The name says it all – the track is pinned to the floor by the monstrous kick and heavy, low bass bleeps. The melodic pattern has an echo of rolling birdsong, but it’s a mutant alien form unseen by human eyes, building and morphing into an acid-tinged monster. Production is astounding – each part is clear as a bell with space to spare in the mix – while incisive percussion works front and centre, marking out the phrases, accenting the breaks, winding the tension taught as a tripwire.
