Lifted from Pressure Sounds’ Sound System Scratch compilation, this is the original piece to Shinehead’s dancehall classic Billie Jean riddim. Originally based on the obscure Studio One A Get a Lick by Bumps Oakley circa 1968, this cut was reportedly built by Family Man for a Bob Marley composition, but was never used. Somehow a cut got into the hands of sound men who popularised it as a vehicle for their deejays and numerous different versions have emerged over the years. Equally revered amongst dancehall fans and roots fans, the flip features a specially commissioned “version” only available on this 7” constructed from the original by the Dub Organiser aka Chris ‘The Mule’ Lane of the A Class Studio and Fashion Records.

A gorgeous slab of roots from the production team of Michael and Geoffrey Chung. Mikey Chung wrote and arranged the song and the production by Geoffrey Chung is total sympathetic to Keith Goodes excellent vocal delivery. This is the first time this tune has been re-issued since it appeared in the mid 70s. The first pressing is limited to just 600 copies. Come in a re-cycled pressure sounds sleeve and hand stamped bag. An absolute belter of a song that has been versioned in recent years. But this is the original. Mastered to perfection in all its original glory. A total delight from start to finish.

Dj Dillingers laid back scat vocals on 'Brace a Boy' hit the spot on this Pablo produced gem. The B side 'AP Special' is fragile and evocative and possibly even better than the A side. Both tunes use the same rhythm although in entirely different ways. Long un-available on 45. Comes in a custom Pablo printed sleeve.
