The tracks 'Step Into Light' and 'Reflect + Heal' draw energy and inspiration from Jazz, Disco, Hiphop and House, culminating in clean, pensive but energizing beats with a message at their soul.
A1 – Boddika & Joy Orbison : The uplifting and yet retro feeling on this track are a joy to behold. Lush lead sounds really grab your attention. The leads are held up with a laidback drone pad sitting at the back of the mix adding a sense of depth to the overall sound.
The 80’s inspired percussion and beat work are solid. The kick groove is well worked, and lower tom sound bounces off the kick freely. Coupled with snappy snares and Skippy hi-hats, this really does add a dance floor focus.
The arrangement of the track is competent and nods it head towards beat breakdowns and re-introductions with great effect. The overall feeling is quality, all you househeads out there should take advantage and grab this while you can.
This is such a special and well-conceived groovy little number that demands your attention.
Telfort makes a hugely welcome return after the success-and-repress of his self-released debut, the aptly titled ‘In A Good Place’ and appearance on the slick Lionoil Industries imprint.
The Edinburgh-based powerhouse makes a strong impression once again with a further hand-stamped, limited pressing of two stellar cuts. The tense emotional drive of ‘Lickety Split’—where deep, colourful chords float and fold sublimely over a stomping club-ready foundation and penetrating bassline—conjures up images of a transcendent moment to be shared with friends and strangers be it at Robert Johnson, Corsica Studios, or an imagined open-air setting heavy on sunlight beaming through trees. On the flip we hear the dusty and melodic warmth of ’Snaps’ exhibit Telfort's uncanny knack of crafting tough-yet-delicate grooves that mesmerise and enchant us.
Garnering notable support from the likes of Hunee, Axel Boman, Smallpeople, Bicep, Moxie, Krysko, Matt Karmil, Dan Beaumont, Fudge Fingas, Rroxymore and many more, the hotly tipped Telfort continues to carve out his own niche in house music with his inimitable mix of subtle rhythmic wisdom and guile.
Years ago and aided by his older brother, The Maghreban used to listen to a London pirate called "Green Apple". He very much enjoyed these sounds. Whilst not identical to what was played on the station, this tune is influenced by those and earlier times.
"Every time you blow me away" - Laurent Garnier (Hacienda)
"VIBES!" - Afrikan Sciences (PAN)
"Love this" - Boddika (Non Plus)
