Released 9th December 2016
Moonshine Recordings continues to coordinate dub into all sorts of directions with its steady throughput of vinyl releases. This time around, it’s the Spanish-based Bukkha to uplift all followers with two up-tempo rollers that take part in his crucial ‘Ruling Sound’ EP. His name has been all over the news inside bass culture lately, as the American released highly noted physical music on critical labels like Killa Sound and Dub-Stuy Records. He’s been working his way to the top and the only thing the Moonshine Recordings imprint can do is support his efforts in pushing dub music to the masses at any given moment of the day.
On top of this wicked news, Portland’s dub producer and engineer ‘Skelli Skel’ joins this session to frame the taste of the ‘PDX Mandem’ collective from back home. His love for complex rhythms and heavy bass lines fuel his adventure inside dub culture, something you’ll hear when listening to ‘MS028’. And with the familiar voice from don Junior Dread, who jumps in on the hype by illuminating the dub with carefully selected freedom of speech, it’s the collaboration that speaks for itself. To top it all, TMSV is added to the release roster, a producer whose been dealing some serious damage with his inventive music repertoire. Whether it’s music on the darker tip, or the more laidback sound, both Bukkha and TMSV know how to uplift and please their followers with bass-heavy, eardrums-teasing bass music.
Bukkha’s ‘Ruling Sound’ leads his way through musicality by portraying the right balance of instruments and not to mention the gigantic bassline that disperses vibrantly through the lower bottom of the mix. The reigning vocal support from Junior Dread and dub techniques from PDX Mandem family Skelli Skell work out fantastically, as it makes this record come to life. Listen to the instrumental part that propagates in the exact sense of ‘dub music’, regardless of spinning on a higher beats per minute. The version ‘Ruling Dub’ by Bukkha himself plays a more meditative part inside your headspace; a clipping where basslines and effects will act up in a blurred version. It’s the real attention to detail the American producer shares with remix boss TMSV, who hits fans with a darker joint that pays homage to Drum & Bass. It’s aggressive stance forms the pinnacle of ‘the right’ B-side of a Moonshine Recordings plate. Just make sure you experience the second drop of this absolutely mammoth interpretation, as TMSV shuts down the place!

After King Yoof’s dedicated dub album and us welcoming the sound of the Italian stallions Madplate Sound to another heavy twelve-inch, we follow up on releasing music from the Londoners Squarewave and Sukh Knight.
Throughout the past years, Squarewave has been releasing music on the biggest labels in dub and dubstep culture and licensed it to Ministry of Sound and Rinse FM. These successes led to establishing his own record label ‘New World Audio’, which houses his favourite bass music including of his successful brother (and remix artist) Sukh Knight. Anthems such as ‘One Spliff’ and ‘Ganja Dub’ have put Sukh on the map in dubstep and grime culture. Known for his wonky sounds, he will surprise you with his vinyl appearance on the flipside.
‘Way Of Life’ is a smooth sailer that reaches out to the early days of dubstep, dub and the life with ganja. Low-pitched vibrations and riveting choirs colour the expression of peace, love and unity inside, while both tremble through a haze of smoke. Followed by complex kick patterns that step forward confidently, words of wisdom take part in sharing Squarewave’s thoughts on the use of the Marijuana plant. This jam surely pays homage to such life-changing event, healing of the nations and system sound.
Sukh Knight’s remix treatment gives off a more electronic feel and propagates differently thru the realm of dub. Its mid-heavy stabs reinforce the peng bass weight that flows similarly to his brother’s original number. However, his own interpretation bends ‘Way Of Life’ into a really different stepper, which will escort listeners through the raw landscape of London’s boroughs. This bass expert, known for his wobbles, shares a tasty dub lick that contains an encapsulating and unique Moonshine sound.
Our 27th release showcases British sound system vibes at its best. Moonshine believes that the brothers Squarewave&Sukh Knight have truly outdone themselves with their contribution to our collection of Moonshine material. Respect!

After the well-received ‘Homage To The King’ album by King Yoof, the Moonshine Recordings camp proceeds with its twenty-sixth single on 12-inch wax and digital. Madplate Sound, the dub production duo originally from Turin and Bristol, is in position for its second vinyl release featuring the lyricists Jago & Galak Spiritual.
The duo’s next single catalogued as ‘MS026’ receives both a healing remix and dub version treatment by Steppas Records’ head-honcho Alpha Steppa, who has recreated two master- pieces from Madplate Sound. The way these original samples weaved through the musician’s mixing desk results into a flawless dub sound.
Loyal listeners of known Moonshine Recordings content won’t be surprised when they hear the original version of ‘Tension’: its anthemic status is derived from strong brass elements, low- pitched bass and fitting vocals from Jago and Galak Spritual. Along with the confident pace, dedicated dub mixing and peaceful sound textures, Madplate Sound allows listeners to drift off to Jah without any use of imagination.
Alpha Steppa steps up the to plate by bringing forth a more laid-back stepper for the flip side. While the Steppas Records’ dub-in-chief mainly focuses on both the ultra-sonic and low-end pulses, he settles the vocals to the forefront intelligently. This way, he achieves a refined inclusion that outweighs anything you’d come to expect from the English producer on remix duty.
The dub version is even more meditative than the existing remix, notably when it propagates through a good set of speaker boxes. The singing is almost completely stripped, remaining elements are heavily delayed and the reggae riff is pushed further into space. A refined sound remains, which really forms the oculus of this gigantic dub that smoothly corresponds to everything you need to enjoy full delight in dub.
Just wait until you test this repertoire on twelve- inch vinyl: you will notice why we love to house Madplate Sound and Alpha Steppa’s music. This joint 12-inch heavyweight release will gladly be part of record collections across the globe. Make sure to spread the word, so we achieve unity!

Known for his 140 BPM productions heavily influenced by reggae, King Yoof continues to release music with soul; encompassing all different styles that make up sound system culture. Born and bred in Lewisham, the English producer encountered the local sound system Saxon Sounds, which played dub music that struck him by heart. He then devoted all his time in learning how to make music through imagination, which quickly led to respected releases on labels like Sub Slayers, Dub Police (remix for Caspa) and Big Dadda Records (remix for Congo Natty). Yoof’s ‘Homage To The King’ LP is a strictly dub album that has been in the works for years. As it was never meant for release, experimenting and recording bands led to an archive of dub samples that needed a necessary dub treatment. It quickly became part of the producer’s lifetime passion project, allowing him to delve into the music that hits his soul indefinitely.

After Violinbwoy’s successful ‘Mono County’ twelver and Moonshine’s tight collaboration with Steppas Records, the imprint is ready to march on and announce its next 12-inch coloured vinyl release waiting in line.
The mighty Mungo’s Hi-Fi and Sekkleman have taken up Radikal Guru’s (RG) prolific ‘Subconscious’ long player. Each has picked a track of choice to lengthen and relive the Polish sound of 2013. With a remix of originals ‘Stay Calm ft. YT’ and ‘Earthwalker, the imprint’s back catalogue is steadily shifting the sediment of dub(wise) music.
Mungo’s Hi Fi’s take on RG’s ‘Stay Calm’ is a meditative jam that reaches out to the most high. The track is led by a low- toned bassline that immerses listeners in lo-fi tremor. It shakes chest plates, while YT’s blessed vocal work transcends the average dub plate. His energetic lines of wisdom align with Mungo’s futuristic drum work; all to forge a revolutionary sound that honours RG’s dub style. Guided by several melody leads, swinging flows and sample tweaks, this rework really sets a groove of its own.
The flip side of ‘MS024’ reaches out to a confident steppa-style production that will remind many of scene favourite Gorgon Sound. The Australian-based Sekkleman has an exciting go at reinterpreting ‘Earthwalker’ in his own profound way: a pounding kick, rowdy b-lines and an enthralling flute escort listeners through the path to Jah. The mental atmosphere that follows suit sets a tone that touches upon RG’s original intentions. It bundles the roots of this stepper, allowing it to effectively trigger a journey that eases down the brain; just close your eyes and skank towards peace and unity.

Moonshine Recordings’ elementary release of 2016 brings Polish Violinbwoy praises to wax treatment. The gifted musician and now commonly established dub merchant continues to share musical teachings by delivering joyous dub treasures. His Mono County discharge is shaped into a 2x12” vinyl release, which vibes along with appearances from David OneAway, Dan I Locks & Dan I – and all meet their dub version enlightenment.
‘Rumors of War’ is a blazing stepper that holds the righteous wisdom of David OneAway, who tints the jam red, yellow and green. The anthemic status of this production arises through combining melodious loops, hypnotic delays and the one-and-only devoted dub mentality. Make way for Violinbwoy’s peace plan…
The joyous sensation brought to you by Dan I Locks and Violinbwoy with ‘More Songs’, is one hefty experience. A ruling trumpet, precise percussive treatment and juicy reggae chords cultivate the feeling of freedom. This crucial sound is a total blessing for the family tree of Moonshine Recordings and its followers.
‘Hold Unto’ is a slower jam that solely focuses on delivering low-subbed b-lines, verbalizing Jah principles and praising emperor Haile Selassie I. Violinbwoy’s devotedness to the sound is, without any doubt, very inspirational and contagious. This project with Dan I needs to be felt on a proper sound system – give thanks!
The mighty violin returns to the mix of ‘Mammoth Lake’, dwelling through a chamber of mesmerizing frequencies. It leads a force to be reckoned with, one that is simply undefeatable. This crafted solo-production is a true work of art we’re proud of housing on top of our solid, rooted collection of Moonshine records.
‘MS023’ shines a vast light on the Polish Violinbwoy, who is more than a familiar emerger on our Moonshine Recordings imprint. He illuminates our music records in ways that strengthens the message we want to put across. After the previous Rooftop Steppers EP coming from Digid & Squarewave, this EP encapsulates our friend’s futuristic vision on dub music. Together we’re ready for the future…

Dubdadda, throughout the reggae world more commonly known as Jono, is the founding member of the renowned Community Charge and main vocalist of the British Zion Train ensemble. His previously released ‘Lo-Fi Pon De Hi-Fi’ out on Moonshine Recordings is one of the albums that continues to have a big impact on us.
After presenting this great piece of dub history on our imprint, we’re proud to announce that we’re housing two ground shaking remixes from our hefty imprint familiars Radikal Guru and Zion Train. These reworks show off Dubdadda‘s original sound with additional forwardthinking, dubwise flavours.
Radikal Guru’ strikes the right chord with his version of ‘Got To Be A Warrior’ through dub-esque melodica, a soulful ballad dedicated to Jah and deeply rooted sub pulses. The endowing parts of Dubdadda’s original cut are unbroken and maintained, allowing the Polish producer to extra shine light on this historical piece of dub music. The peaceful message being looped without intermissions will remind listeners of the producers’ commitment to untouchable sound system music.
Zion Train’s interpretation on the B-side follows a similar drum pattern that ends in a completely refreshing avenue of dub. The British ensemble nails their version by carrying out easing reggae chords, gentle delay FX and an excursion through bassline meditation. The lovegiving chant forms the centerpiece of this relaxing stepper, which pays homage to Dubdadda’s original tale. Re-joining Zion Train’s vocal section makes the band’s version a positive force to be reckoned with that breaths ‘soul for sound’.

Born and raised in the ghetto of Vila Guilherme located in Brazil’s São Paulo, Carlos Almeida Jr. aka Junior Dread represents the new generation of conscious reggae music worldwide. His sound brings a positive message of love and understanding to the world.
He has released singles with respected international artists such as Mungo’s Hi- Fi, Dubateers and Gorgon Sound to just name a few. In 2015 he teamed up with Moonshine Recordings to release remixed versions of his biggest tracks ‘Wonderful Feeling’ and ‘Freedom’. Supported by influential artists like Om Unit, Kahn, Radikal Guru, Doc Scott and many others.
Gorgon Sound’s take on ‘Wonderful Feeling’ sends positive vibrations through 2015’s dub culture. They have kept Junior Dread’s founding voice to rule the top-end vigorously, while catchy instruments levitate original intentions. The duo hit unity with blessing chords, chest-rumbling waves of bass weight and a righteous steppa rhythm that fits the Moonshine outfit perfectly.
The flipside coming from DJ Madd is a darker affaire that hints back to the early Jungle days. His ‘Freedom’ remix exerts deeply resonating 808 basslines that propagate below a defined threshold. Junior Dread’s dub basics are kept close to the heart of the Hungarian producer, which leads to a rework that makes the perfect B-side to this heavy 12” plate from the Moonshine Recordings camp.

Hailing from Manchester he was a founder member of the renowned Community Charge – the best homegrown reggae talent in the UK in their era. After the demise of this band the Dubdadda was instrumental in forming Nucleus Roots alongside other former members of the Community Charge line-up.
In 2001 Dubdadda joined Zion Train vocal section and started to work on his debut album.
