Fuse London's offshoot label continues its strongest year so far with Fabe stepping up to the plate to present the 'Square Town Story EP'. 'Kim On Gin' is the first port of call with its swung rhythms and idiosyncratic bassline with 'All City Brother' following on in much the same funked up vein. 'No More Order' injects a Housier feeling with its toughened up drums whilst Enzo Siragusa & Seb Zito provide their own interpretation of 'Kim On Gin' in their own inimitable style.
Mannheim duo Ho Do Ri's Lost In Betty's Ford is an exercise in restraint with the EP delving into the deeper realms of house music. Elotrans' Kick things off with its shuffling percussion lending the track more of a jacking vibe.
High Level boost ups the energy whilst still retaining a distinctly left field vibe whilst K For The Models delves into murkier realms in a superbly wonky way.
Back Problems rounds things off with a sub-aquatic ride reminiscent of Baby Ford at his most coherent.
It's destination Romania for the next release on the burgeoning Infuse label with IULY.B taking the reins with his 'Harmonics EP'. 'Romance' delves deep with its subdued bass line and off kilter percussion edging the track into hazy territory. ‘Supersonic' ups the ante with a sweeping, undulating synth percolating throughout whilst 'Sine Harmonics' is a total gem, with its fresh and unique vibe making it truly stand out as something special.
20 year old Utrecht based producer Julian Alexander steps up for the next release in Infuse with a ep of raw house grooves. Sweet Rain kicks things off, its deeply rounded bass and swung percussion imbuing the track with a real sense of groove. Cabin Fever continues the vibe whilst Present brings a sense of warmth; an undulating pad lending the track a more blissed out feel whilst Straight furrows a tougher path with a dirtier warehouse kick and metallic percussion.
Nick Beringer debuts on INFUSE to open the label’s 2021 schedule, offering up his stellar ‘Blue Blood’ EP.
A rising DJ and producer at the heart of Berlin’s minimal house scene, Rubisco boss Nick Beringer has formed a growing reputation as a ‘go-to’ artist for quality productions across the genre in recent years, with his diverse discography welcoming material via the likes of Raum…Musik, Taverna Tracks, Mulen Records and Berg Audio to name just a few. With a sound fusing classic Detroit house and techno with more modern shades, ranging from electro-tinged elements through to more dubby textures, the German talent kickstarts 2021 with an impressive debut outing on FUSE sister imprint INFUSE as he delivers his four-track ‘Blue Blood’ EP.
Lead cut ‘Concave’ is a perfect example of Beringer’s ability to fuse genres and nuances with ease and fluidity as skipping percussion licks guide skittering sci-fi electronics and sweeping atmospherics throughout an up-front EP opener, whilst vinyl only cut ‘Aint Got Nobody’ delves into deeper realms as squelching basslines merge with icy hats and infectious vocal iterations. The lively title cut ‘Blue Blood’ opens the B-Side in style as warping synths weave amongst aquatic melodies and deep sub-bass, before closing out proceedings via the dynamic, off-kilter tones of final production ‘Second Hand Emotion’.
