Vinyl will feature Individual, hand illustrated sleeves.
Distraction combines thundering bass elements from darker techno with deeper, emotive pads and flourishes to create a meditative yet driving late night groove. Best used to hush dance floor chatter in favour of getting heads down and putting a shift in.
Static and Choke also play with juxtapositions of light and dark elements, with Choke being the firmer of the two. Both offer sounds ideal for creating trippy and introspective dance floor moments, while not allowing those hard fought for energy levels to drop.

When Fouk & Glenn Astro remix a new artist you know what the vibe is: Dirty DIY house with a heavy funk vibe. Mangabey is the new kid on the Toy Tonics family and he is a master of this style. He lives in Lyon/ France (and is a good friend of Folamour who remixed his first EP on Toy Tonics some months ago). But Mangabey takes the whole new Funk-House sound to another level. While many of his colleagues work with samples, Mangabey studied Jazz piano and collects vintage synths. And so he plays most of the stuff himself and bring in a lot of personality. His works could remind the vibe of New York Soul House from the 1990ies or the sounds from the West London scene from 20 years ago, but definitely he adds a modern, edgy touch to it. Mangabey aka Jose Fehner is an interesting personality: Born in the south of France in a family of traveling artists. As a kid he has been living on a boat and in caravans, traveling France and Africa with a wild theatre collective directed by his parents who are actors. Later he went to music university and now finally, by age of 22, he lives in Lyon. Lyon is becoming France’ second music town. The town that has the most vibrant club and producer scene right now. So, yes: There is a lot to come from there… a lot from Mangabey.

At Heist, we’re always on the prowl for exciting new music and we’ve seriously found it in the form of new project ‘Kassian’, the brainchild of Joe Danvers- McCabe (‘Danvers’) and Warren Cummings (‘Warren Xclnce’). Both are regulars in the underground and wider reaching London scenes, Warren is a co-founder of Abouttoblow and a previous studio producer at Worldwide FM, whilst Joe came through DJing and running nights in the eclectic world of Bristol nightlife before moving to London. Joe gained considerable attention this year with his ‘Interludes EP’ on Wotnot music, with ‘Aye Ata’ getting played by pretty much everyone from Gilles Peterson to Octo Octa. Perhaps unknowingly, he entered into Heist territory with a Frits Wentink remix on that release. After hearing this release, we got in touch with him and that’s when we heard about Joe and Warren’s plans to launch a new project together. They already had some tracks ready and when we heard them, it had ‘Heist Recordings’ written all over it. The whole EP breathes soul and funk with that dancefloor punch you’ve come to expect from Heist. The Premise EP delivers three originals, each with a hint of soulful, old-school New York House, but with a fresh style and unique character. Finishing the EP is an eccentric and vibey DJ Nature remix. This release marks the start of a new musical path for the duo and we hope they have a lot more music to share with the world. The title track “The Premise” has a special meaning for them: It’s named after the London studio/café ‘The Premises’ where they had their first studio sessions together following a chance meeting at a Peckham party they were both playing.

It’s not the fall that hurts, it’s when you hit the ground – that’s what „Failing Upwards“ is all about. On Lehult’s fourteenth release Lucky Charms breaks away from 4-to-the-floor territory to deliver a fun trip through skippy drum workouts and jazzy warmth. Spread out across the full A-Side is “Einbahnstraßen-Sound". Heard first on the Lehult Worldwide FM Special last year, this highly requested tune finally sees the light of day in all its trippy, warm, analogue glory. “Oase” takes things a notch deeper by layering lush synths, swarming melodies and ski field recordings over a laid back electro-groove. “Rex Dubius” translates the vibe of the first two tracks into a more straightforward, dubby groove - not without the skipping beats and the warm counterparts, though.

1987... for those lucky enough visiting a decent import shop in that year could have seen a US import record with pink label showing a darts board with small text next to the picture saying "Target records" and "Joe R. Lewis". Pretty sure nobody at that time would be alarmed by this... reading further it said... 1. Love Of My Own... Written and produced by Joe R. Lewis... in even smaller text the label info continued; mixed by Larry Heard..! And even that, at that time that would not have rung a bell, except for maybe a couple of dj's who only just in the last couple months picked up copy of a Mr. Fingers record and memorised the writer credits. We're talking the very early days of House music, the pre-internet era where new music and info didn't spread all over the globe within a couple of seconds... Now more then 30 years later this is a holy grail for worldwide record collectors and house aficionados, and still not all info is clear. But like all good stories there is a cloud of mystery covering up the details! On the flip side there is one of the best tracks ever produced by Joe Lewis.., Life Immoreal... a track so elegant and beautiful that it hurts!!! Two of the best tracks Chicago House music has to offer in remastered versions taken from the original master tapes on this latest outing of Clone Classic Cuts!
