Last year Julien ‘Redeyes’ Salvi showed off his versatility on his Blueprints EP. He now takes it one step further with the release of “Broken Soul”, his first full length project for The North Quarter. Through twelve sincere tracks, the Toulouse-based artist showcases an action packed storyline co-starring some of the most sought-after vocalists in the game. Not only do Manchester legends DRS and Tyler Daley make appearances, but there are also features by fresh NQ signee Abnormal Sleepz, HMD, KinKai and Juga-Naut as well as NY underground Hip Hop phenomenon Milano Constantine. Rap, Soul and dusty Jazz flavour is woven through diverse tracks in both tempo and intensity. The Redeyes signature shines bright however, effortlessly capturing current aesthetics and eclecticism. This album shows a veteran artist comfortable in his craft and is not just at home on Lenzman's imprint, it possibly signifies the quintessence of The North Quarter philosophy.
Innovative Future Beats duo Ivy Lab are set to release ‘Death Don't Always Taste Good’, their debut album proper, through their own 20/20 LDN label.
North London outfit Ivy Lab were brought together out of a shared enthusiasm for experimentations on the fringes of the UK bass music scene. The years that followed saw them go from strength to strength, earning a place in Mixmag’s Top 10 DJs of 2015 and propagating a new generation of hip-hop inspired abstractions housed within the framework of their 20/20 LDN project.
Originally starting life as a trio, the duo of Sabre (Gove Kidao) and Stray (J. Fogel) now find themselves at the apex of the Halftime/Future Beats movement - a motley assortment of actors from across the bass music landscape applying their sonic-heritage to experiments with hip-hop and drum machine electronica.
Ivy Lab invested further in the exploration of this sound with the creation of their 20/20 LDN clubnight. Housed primarily at Brixton’s Phonox nightclub, it earned the characterisation of “ultra innovative” (Timeout Magazine) and a “London standout” (Mixmag).
Minted in late 2015, and borrowing the same raison d'être as its elder sibling nightlife brand; 20/20 LDN Recordings was unveiled with the pseudo-mixtape/compilation LP ‘Ivy Lab presents 20/20 Volume.1’ - described as “Uncompromising, insightful and rather awesome” 9/10 by Mixmag and “Impossible to categorise” 9/10 by DJ Mag. Little over a year (and only 5 releases deep) the label was awarded the title of ’Best Breakthrough Label 2016’ in the DJ Mag Best of British Awards 2016.
Now a galvanising presence in the Future Beats movement, Ivy Lab’s’ 20/20 Volume.1 release and the subsequent follow up EPs were benchmark moments in forging the genre into a pillar of the electronic music landscape. Tracks such as ‘Spooky Dub’, ‘Can’t Say No’ and ‘Peninsula’ all garnered incredible currency, supplemented by showpiece remixes for Banks (‘Fuck With Myself’) and Noisia (‘Tentacles’).
That same currency as bass music figureheads has been embraced by festivals as varied as Glastonbury, EDC Vegas, SXSW, Sonar (Barcelona + HK), CTM Berlin, Dour, ADE, Woo Hah!, Shambhala, Lightning In A Bottle, Lowlands, Origin NYE, Exit and Outlook.
Ivy Lab head into the horizon not only with an anchored presence at the cutting edge of the bass-music landscape, but also a secured reputation as pioneering label bosses and event promoters in ownership of one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary music brands.

7th Storey Projects is pleased to welcome back the Myor Massiv head honcho for his 3rd release on our label.
Earlier this year, Coco Bryce travelled to Tokyo and Osaka for a small series of gigs. Thoroughly impressed by his experiences there, upon returning home, he immediately took to crafting a slew of jungle and hip hop tracks, heavily influenced by everything he'd seen, heard, felt and tasted in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The ep kicks off with its title track, Ayakashi. Dark, fierce and mysterious like the mythical creatures it was named after, it builds up slowly, utilizing a combination of chopped up Japanese percussion, haunting flutes and Hot Pants breaks, before switching to full on Amen assault mode halfway through the tune.
Shinjuku is one of Tokyo's most well known wards, and also the place where Coco found the records from which the samples were sourced to construct this number: a turntablism beat/scratch album, and a compilation of traditional work songs, this particular one originating from the gold mines of the island of Hokkaido.
On the B1 track, Kaguya, he takes a more gentle approach: sweet, yet melancholic, like the Miyazaki movie of the same name.
The ep is rounded off with Hotaru, which borrows from an entirely different source of inspiration, namely DJ Krush's abstract take on boom bap hip hop. Shards of mid-90s Mo Wax are blended with anime samples, making for a solid two and a half minutes of Golden Era-esque head nodding.
Instrumental Thursdays: i&i Musik and Wahever Records present an album of quirky and eclectic instrumentals written and produced by Archiver and Matteo Boyero. It was recorded over the last two years during regular Thursday sessions at Matteo’s studio in Homerton. The album draws inspiration from the diversity of musical genres and cultures present in London, crossing borders and genres; spanning Dub, African, Electronic, International, Hip Hop, House, Tropical, Techno and everything in-between. The sunny artwork made by Risa, captures the vibe of Instrumental Thursdays, and gives an idea of the wide variety of instruments and effects used throughout; from drum machine to steel drum, saxophone to synthesiser, passing through reel-to-reel tape, springs and delays.
About the artwork: I wanted to create a sleeve that reflected the album, it’s sounds and the Thursday sessions that created it. I hung out in the studio with them, did some drawings, took some photographs and used these as a starting point. To me, the album sounds a bit tropical, with some cosmic vibes, slightly twisted samples, hints of Hip Hop, Techno, Dub and some African influences chucked in for good measure. The studio and recording process was all very ‘organic’, with many of the parts being recorded in live so I kept the drawings spontaneous and fun and used positive, vibrant colours. During the creation of this album, Matteo and Archiver both adopted cats who equally seem to enjoy hanging out in the studio, so we decided to stick them on the cover too! - Risa,

A progressive electronic duo, formed in 2016 by seasoned beatsmith Tsuruda (Darker Than Wax, Team Supreme, Division) and experimental artist Huxley Anne (Dome of Doom/Alphapup), PAINT incorporates all aspects of both member’s creativity. The duo was inspired as the two were coming up in the LA beat scene, often adding visual elements to their live performances while writing genre-defying songs in the studio. Their style draws largely on abstract hip-hop, jazz, bass, and grime influences, but unites these elements into seamlessly painted soundscapes that stand out in the modern sea of electronic music. Their powerful rhythms, colored nuances, and expressive lead synth tones ignite in the PAINT live show, where you can often find the duo mashing custom visuals together while spinning tracks back to back.
“After years of writing together under our solo aliases, this EP has solidified a creative purpose—unifying musical production with a visual aesthetic to elevate electronic music into the realm of art. It also serves a social purpose, placing a man and a woman on equal footing within a technical environment where women are scarcely represented. Fighting against both genre and gender constructs drives our forward-thinking energy inside the musical structure.
When 20/20 LDN approached us about writing an EP, we were ecstatic. They’ve created a platform we value for both the visual aesthetic and their fearlessness in bridging genres within electronic music. For us, working with Ivy Lab on this release is directly in line with our goals of defying genre constructs in order to create art that lives beyond contemporary confines.
This EP is an intellectual apex for us, seeking to defy genres from within their technical and stylistic constructs. By combining sound design techniques from European bass music with the rebellious energy of the LA beat scene, we’ve entered a musical landscape that is not yet defined. The EP’s title, Exodus, represents our departure from genre-based music, opening up a new environment where sound design, aesthetic, synthesis, and culture have become modular tools for exploring the future of electronic production."
Brighton based producer and visual artist Asta Hiroki follows up his critically acclaimed 2016 debut EP - 'Balance' with a sensual and nuanced double-A side single: ‘Channels / Vulnerable’.
Continuing his luscious ambient beat explorations in post-Dilla hip hop and leftfield electronica he produces a stunning instrumental piece in ‘Channels’ and cleverly enlists the help of forward-thinking producer/vocalist Suzi Analogue (Never Normal Records, Fresh Selects) to contribute the vocals on the emotive ‘Vulnerable’.
In-demand as both a producer and a vocal artist, Ms. Analogue brings a neo soul twist à la Erykah Badu to Asta’s gorgeous arrangement. Lyrically focusing on shedding the various masks people wear and allowing oneself to be completely themselves, she showcases all the attirbutes that have made her a favourite of online press like FACT, The Fader, Okayplayer, Paper Mag. It's a perfect match of styles from these two artists with the tune carrying a liberating and relevant message in today’s image-focused world.
'Channels' is a jazzed-out slice of leftfield hip hop and electronica, taking cues from the likes of Robert Glasper, Bonobo and Shigeto. As per its name it perfectly captures the meditative and ever-moving nature of water with no 2 bars the same throughout.
Powerful low end frequencies underpin the beautiful flowing keys work and fluttering organic percussion to keep it ever-evolving and exerting a calming influence on the listener.
The release is packaged with a stunning unique hand-drawn artwork by talented illustrator Gosia Miklaszewska that complements the mood of the music beautifully.
⚬ Reso launches his own label "RX0" with his own Kodama EP
⚬ First new music in 2 years
⚬ Back from hiatus making music for Sony Playstation VR Project ⚬ Lead track Kodama is stunning jungle prog opus ⚬ EP serves as label mission statement: Service will be all vibes: cinematic jungle & D&B
(Kodama & Tiberium), low slung instrumental breaks & halftime (Fluid Mechanics) and raw 4/4 rhythms (Mantis)
For more than a decade Reso has deployed some of the sharpest drum programming skills in dance music to move dancefloors and transport listeners to new worlds. A quiet force in the trenches of the electronic dance music world, Reso — the alias of Alex Melia — has been called on by a diverse array of contemporaries including Burial & Jamie Woon, for whom he has engineered, and remixes for guitar heroes Animals as Leaders, grime kingpin Wiley and dance music legends The Prodigy and Carl Cox. After a two-year break following his Ricochet LP for Hospital Records, during which he scored a new virtual reality game for PlayStation 4, Reso returns with four tracks of spirited dance music that mark the inaugural release on his RX0 label.
The EP is driven by two upfront drum & bass productions that highlight Reso’s attention to detail and flair for music with an epic scope. ‘Kodama’ is an eight-minute long excursion of relentless drums, tight edits, and roaring bass lines that jolts you to action. On the flip side ’Tiberium’ plays with a bright, uplifting lead before plunging into a rolling break and warm bass offset by soft keys and female vocals. This is drum & bass as sweeping, cinematic compositions not just dancefloor music by the numbers.
The EP also showcases other sides of Reso’s sonic world with the instrumental break of ‘Fluid Mechanics’ resetting the mood and contrasting against the rush of ‘Kodama’ with atmospheric tinges, floating keys, and soaring guitar riffs. The EP closes on another upfront note with ‘Mantis’, which swaps the frenetic breaks and tempos of drum & bass for houseleaning 4/4 rhythms and speeds while remaining just as effective.
All tracks written & produced by Alex Melia. Artwork by Morrk. Mastered by Lewis Hopkin at Star Delta.
The Blueprints EP marks the welcome return of the talented Toulouse based producer Redeyes. Following a number of releases on seminal labels such as Bingo, Creative Source, Innerground and Brownswood in the mid 2000s, Redeyes then decided to take a step back from music production. Now returning as a more complete and mature artist, his Blueprints EP on Lenzman’s The North Quarter imprint sends an exciting message of where Julien Salvi stands in 2017. Comprising of an ambitious nine tracks, Redeyes’ Blueprints EP showcases his exquisite musicianship and ability in the studio throughout each piece of music. In true North Quarter style, he effortlessly breaks down the boundaries between Drum & Bass and Hip Hop, whilst fully maintaining the soulful and heartfelt aesthetic that he is known and revered for. The release sees him join forces with a plethora of exciting talent. ‘100 Porsches To The Stars’ brings him together with underground LA rap hero Hus Kingpin for a lo-fi Hip Hop masterclass. He also collaborates with Mancunian don Black Josh, Children of Zeus’ infamous Tyler Daley, North Quarter chief Lenzman, and many more.
