New flagship band of the Swiss ska and rocksteady scene, Cosmic Shuffling finally delivers its first album, Magic Rocket Ship. After the success of its first EP, Cosmic Goes Wild, which was playlisted for more than a year on the Swiss national radios, elected in the ten best records of the genre in 2017 and internationally acclaimed by the specialized critics, the Geneva band had to live up to the expectations, and it's done. Magic Rocket Ship is both a tribute to the Jamaican music of the 1960s and a breakthrough into the futuristic world of the sextet. Recorded in the aesthetics of sixties sound, ribbon microphones, magnetic tapes and analog saturation, it was Roberto Sánchez, the extraordinary Spanish producer, who mixed the nine original tracks on this LP. Dancing from beginning to end like a comet in space, Magic Rocket Ship is a real musical nugget that will delight both vintage fans and music lovers in search of freshness. To be discovered urgently!

Cosmic Shuffling, the Geneva based combo, made a strong impact a couple months ago with its double A side ska 7” single “Eastern Ska” b/w “Western Ska”. Before releasing the band’s new album, we are happy to give you another double scorcher on 7” record. The gorgeous instrumental “Short Break” on the A side brings us right back to the mid sixties of Jamaica, when Rocksteady was king. “Revenge” on the flip side is a shuffle ska led by a magnificent six-piece horns section. Named after Anne Bonny’s boat, this song is an exclusive 7” release, it will not feature on the upcoming album. Real authentic sounds to make you jump and twist!

Kumar, ex-Raging Fyah lead singer, met Fruits Records crew back in 2016, when he invited them to play with I Kong at his Wickie Wackie festival in Bull Bay, Jamaica. From then, the musical friendship never stopped, doing different types of collaboration over the years. His unique voice tone, breathe-taking vocal abilities and songwriting skills make Kumar one of the greatest singers of his generation, as his nomination at the Grammy awards 2016 with Raging Fyah can testify. "Message In Your Radio” brings a different taste to Fruits Record's catalog, noticeably more modern than the previous releases. Kumar's melancholic melodies enhance this powerful riddim played by The 18th Parallel with conscious lyrics: Message in the music is a must, today more than ever. Anthem for radio stations!

We always try to bring something special when it comes to release a single on vinyl. This time, we are pleased to announce the return of one of the most obscure and talented vocal group from the early 80's: Time Unlimited. It's been more than twenty years that Donovan Joseph, Hugo Blackwood and Orville Smith, have been off the musical scene as Time Unlimited. During the recording sessions of the Roots Architects project in 2017, we had the chance to meet Donovan Joseph passing by the studio. Straightaway, we were telling ourselves that we had to see his legendary group name written on black wax again. Here it is, with a deep rub a dub cut backed by the High Times Players remembering the golden years of the group!
A twenty-year-long career, a staggering number of huge collaborations (Lee "Scratch" Perry, Cedric Myton, BB "Gaylads" Seaton, etc.) and countless tours played across Europe: Najavibes know no stopping. Living and breathing roots reggae, and with a memorable 2016 Jamaican tour imprinted on their hearts, the Geneva-based band now bring you Same Sun, their glowing second studio album.
Jamaican reggae transcends between blends of dub and jazz in these fourteen tracks, mixed by Prince Fatty and featuring Kumar, Mark Wonder, Roberto Sánchez and Aston Barrett Jr., son of Family Man from the Wailers.
With the added boost of their new members, Najavibes are still defending the roots tradition while drawing their dynamic from modern influences and the boldness of striking stylistic crossovers: afrobeat, rub-a-dub, new- roots.
Authentic, positive, sunny and open to the sounds of the world: this is the mark of the greats.
1. Najavibes - Sun Light
2. Najavibes - Insecurity
3. Najavibes - Keep On
4. Najavibes - Not Only Lyrics
5. Najavibes - Drivers
6. Najavibes - Parcours feat. Rootwords & Jonas
7. Najavibes - Live With Respect

This 7” single features two songs taken from Najavibes new album SAME SUN: “Catty Walk” is a surprising instrumental led by beautiful horns and keyboards, then “Insecurity” on the B side is a heavy stepper riddim with strong political lyrics. A must have!

Earlier this year, Fruits Records released I’VE SEEN, Oku Onuora’s highly acclaimed new album. We at Fruits Records selected our personal two favorite poems from the album, IF NOT NOW & DUBWORD WARRIOR, for release on 7” - this edition is especially made for sound systems. Be prepared for a double blast of Dub poetry from these word/music missiles.
Lloyd Parks is one of the greatest bass player in Jamaican music history, but he’s also a brilliant singer. He started his singer carrier in 1967 at Studio One with The Termites and then had numerous hits with songs like “Officially”, “Slaving”, “Ordinary Man”, “Mafia” or “We’ll Get Over It”. In 2013, Fruits Records producer Mathias Liengme travelled to Jamaica to record The Inspirators album, an all stars group gathering Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace, Lloyd Parks, Earl “Chinna” Smith and Anthony “Sangie” Davis playing and singing together. Taken from these recording sessions, Lloyd Parks’ “No Bother Chuck It Pon Me” is for the first time available on 7” record including a wicked dub version on the B side by Roberto Sánchez.
The Roots Architects is a very special project produced by Fruits Records founding member Mathias Liengme. This is a tribute to the men in the shadow who built Jamaican reggae in studios. It gathers 50 of the greatest Jamaican session musicians from the 60’s to the early 80’s still playing today. Fruits Records brought them together in studio to create an original album of instrumental songs. “1000 Light Years” is the first single taken from the album to be released later this year.
This dark heavy roots song is played by what used to be The High Times Players nucleus in the early 80’s: Barnabas on drums, Chris Meredith on bass, Gibby Morrisson on rhythm guitar and Tony Asher on piano. Then we have Robbie Lyn, Dwight Pinkney, Jah D Fearon, Obeah Denton, Calvin Cameron and Dean Fraser’s horns section who spice up the riddim with beautiful themes and solos.
Brand new single from legendary Rocksteady duet Keith & Tex! Famous for hits and classics that have lasted more than half a century like “Stop That Train”, “Tonight” or “Let Me Be The One”, Keith & Tex proved that they were still on top of the Rocksteady scene with their latest album “Same Old Story” released in 2017. In summer 2017, they met Swiss band Najavibes and teamed up with the crew to record a new original song: “Global Politics”. This single stays true to the Rocksteady essence they are famous for and will delight both sound systems and collectors of the sixties sound! B side features another duet from Geneva: The I-Twins.
“Love Shuttle is a group. But first it's a song. And then a label. Love Shuttle is everything. And nothing. A mysterious mirage”. Here’s how the group introduces itself. Formed from the encounter of legendary Jamaican drummer Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace and three youths from Switzerland, Love Shuttle brings you back to the good old days when UK pop and Jamaican music used to influence each other and become one. Then comes Gee Sugar, one of the greatest keyboard player from Paris, with his terrible organ version “Lovers Boulevard”. The perfect record for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The new rocksteady sensation from Geneva ! Cosmic Shuffling brings back the Jamaican 60’s golden sound with his vintage ska and rocksteady. Recorded with just a few ribbon microphones and mixed in the purest tradition by Spanish wizard Roberto Sánchez on analogue tapes, Cosmic Goes Wild is simply irresistible. Between sweet romance and serious life reasoning, between heavy bass and sweet horns, sharp guitars and rough drums, Cosmic Shuffling gives a modern approach of an old time music, with a stunning vintage sound ! Jamaican veteran singer I Kong strikes again with Najavibes and special guest vocalist Judy Mowatt, nothing less than Bob Marley backing singer within The I-Threes, on this dark one drop reminding I Kong’s immense hit “The Way It Is” from 1972.
Following “The Way For We” released in 2014, The I-Twins are back with their second autoproduced album “The Master Plan”, available on the 2nd of June 2017. For the recording, the twins worked with musicians from Najavibes, as well as other talented artists from the Geneva reggae scene. The album goes from roots reggae to rockers and rub-a-dub, bearing few touches of jazz and soul, and deals with topics that matter particularly to the I-Twins: our relation to death, suffering, injustice, love, as well as to beauty, and gives a critical view of our political system and its dysfunctions.
Recorded at Bridge Studio, Geneva, “The Master Plan” was mixed by the vintage reggae specialist, Roberto Sánchez and mastered by Sam John. The result is therefore in the perfect continuity of the work initiated by Fruits Records. However, this release marks a turning point in the catalogue of the label, which puts forward for the first time young Europeans artists; till now, it was indeed dedicated to veterans of the Jamaican music golden era.
The album will be available on CD and on gatefold double LP (300 copies) with five dubs by Roberto Sánchez.
