Welcoming Cesco with his Angry Waves EP. This is Cesco's first full EP on the label. His first (and highly acclaimed) release on the label was his track 'Drones' which featured on our Edition 3 LP. To follow the success of Breaka’s ‘The Startup’ - the inaugural Off Beat release which earned support from the likes of Addison Groove, Sherelle, Minor Science and Sicaria Sound to name but a few - label boss Rhyval (one-third of Off Beat), steps up to deliver three cuts of fun, percussive, bass-laden heat for OBR002.

Reminiscent of early Ramadanman records on Hessle Audio and Swamp 81, ‘Down Alarm’ rings out with gliding bass, 808 snares and vocal chops. 

‘Hassle’ is a held-back stepper with various bass mutations and a system shattering mid-range whale call. 

Closing out yet another extremely promising release for the Manchester-based label is ‘Footcell’. Drawing on a Grime framework, a series of bit-crushed blips dance around the choppy, shortly-sustained synth licks, like fireflies illuminating.

Over the past year or so I have watched as the releases on Holding Hands got more and more intense. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. Intense and straight to the face was always the plan for the label. At the same time I do have slightly more varied taste and I had been getting sent a decent amount of incredible music that didn’t quite fit on the original outlet. My first love when it comes to electronic music is dark, eyes down, bass heavy and so it seemed like now was the perfect time to create a label with a slightly deeper angle to accommodate this sort of thing.

Yosh was one of those people who had sent me some serious fire. I had been chatting to him here and there on Instagram over the last year but I hadn’t heard any of his music. Finally, on a whim I asked him to send me some and boy am I glad he did! I completely fell in love with his vibe and it seemed to perfectly encapsulate the sound that I wanted to push on Holding Hands Submerged. Don’t for a second think that this is some lounge listening ambient business. These are club weapons firing on all cylinders. It’s just that the cylinders make you keep your eyes down and your stank face on at all times.

On top of being a sick producer, it turns out Yosh is also a total legend. I’m so happy that I get to release some of his music and that I’ve got to know such a lovely guy.

OK enough of my blather. Go and listen to the damn things yourself and decide if you like them, rather than trying to work it out from reading a bloody press release you weirdos.

All four tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. They want big sound systems and dark rooms.

DJ Swagger returns to Nerang Recordings with ‘Bass Hysteria’ this January.
Following releases on E-Beamz, Natural Sciences, and Who’s Susan, the German-based DJ Swagger returns to Nerang after appearing on the label’s ‘Freaky Friends Volume 1’ compilation earlier this year, bringing yet another bout of high quality, high energy output to the table.

Merging influences from Dance Mania through to UK Garage, ‘Bass Hysteria’ sees the DJ Swagger at the top of his game. ‘Atomic Fear’ galvanizes the pure energy of early DJ Funk, with air raid sirens and glitched out hi-hats punctuated throughout, while ‘Drybones’ nods towards early dubstep and UK flavours, with gurgling  basslines and skippy drums bubbling throughout as occasional glimmers of gorgeous synth work allow the listener to come up for air.

‘Trail of Destruction’ encapsulates golden age electro, with effected vocals, crisp percussion, and gritty basslines coming together for a late night groover. ‘Noseblunt’ is a fast-paced whirlwind, aimed for fog-filled dance floors, perfectly wrapping up the eleventh release on a label pushing diverse sounds from artists around the world.

Another winner from J Rocc. This single includes a classic take on ATCQ classic “Luck of Lucien”. A track that has never beenavailable as an instrumental. The B-Side titled “Sweat Break” is one for the dance floors. The original track was played in various sets by Legendary DJ Ron Hardy. J Rocc found out the original and made an edit similar to the one that was heard at the Warehouse. Both tracks have been tried and tested on the dance floor and are guaranteed to be a winner.
