The debut release from the bossman himself, Reflec takes us on a journey through the classic eski UK sound across SWITCH’s six tracks, also pulling influence from Grime, UK Techno and Dancehall. Inspired by one of the most influential strains of grime, eski, SWITCH is grime for the dancefloor and for the ravers; intense, energic, and cold as ice, Reflec updates Eski with a 2021 approach.

Since 2014 Stones Taro has been delivering his own take on the UK sound, heavily influenced by rave, jungle, garage and breakbeat. Now the Kyoto, Japan based artist makes his Cheeky Music Group debut with four intricately laced cuts on August 20th, continuing to break the mould and recontextualize his own sonic palette.

‘Again’ opens proceedings with deep wobbling bass that finds its way from your ears and down to your toes, coupled with dub style chords and vibey vocal loops, to help keep the steppers moving to the early hours. ‘Come Over Me’ picks up where ‘Again’ left off with glossy lipped vocals and oscillating snare drums, resulting in a track perfect for warming up the dance floor.

Glistening synths sparkle just above choppy breaks and spacious bass in ‘Yakusugi’ - as it’s ethereal sensibility adds a different dynamic altogether to Stones Taro’s ever evolving sonic armour. Every sound in closing track ‘Rare’ is carefully placed and nuanced; as one tone reflects off the next in auditory delight - suited for those late-night dwellers.

Rhythm & Sound inaugurates its Wackies reissue series with 'Lovers Rock', by the Love Joys. For this recording the duo were cousins Sonia Abel and Claudette Brown, originally from Brixton, England. This women's roots album is a milestone in reggae, a refreshing departure in a tradition dominated by men. With the classic Wackies sound magnificent behind them - lovers rock, showcase style, in extended versions - the duo beautifully and skilfully meshes social critique and affairs of the heart, from a woman’s point of view. 'Lovers Rock' is one of the best and rarest albums on the legendary Wackies label.

Shall Not Fade's Time Is Now series continues to showcase the cutting edge of breaks and bass oriented club music. This time they introduce Groovy D; this new solo project of one third of Sheffield-based trio Denham Audio curates a totally fresh take on garage which is soulful, unique and genre-defying.

Afterworld Groove EP features female vocalists and a collaboration with Time Is Now regular Interplanetary Criminal; vocal heavy tracks are a highlight of the record, taking the garage sound away from the confines of the club. "Outta Control" is one of these tracks; Emma Cannon's vocals walk the edge between soulful and mournful, contrasting the wild breakbeats and deep, dirty bass. The title track uses housey intoned keys; this is daytime garage, made for summer parties. Taking influence from his Sheffield home, "Keep Movin' On" has a classic bassline sound palette, cheeky stabbing synths and hyperactive breaks.

"Project Zeus" opens the B-side: stutters of snare and punching bass are broken through with a classic, uncontrollable bassline; the tongue-in-cheek sample that forms the drop will undoubtedly bring a smile to British fans. More minimalist B2 "Timeless" is a chorus of bubbling ear candy until the rolling sub bass looms into a deep, headsy climax. Manchester's Interplanetary Criminal joins to close the EP; with vocals from Anna Straker, "Higher" takes a genre-spanning approach in hazey garage percs and soaring pads. The tempo is down, and misty, romantic sax forms the backbone.

Beto Beto is a new label from Bristol releasing house-centric uk inflected club and ambient music.

BETO01 is a hand stamped white label in the tried and tested format of the disco 12” single ~ two floor ready mixes of the title track Poliziotteschi (one club/one dub) and a weirdo left field bonus cut. The Chosen Mix offers bold smokey Chicago and Italo influenced techno whilst the Mirrors Mix is much more rooted in Bristol, with its sparse dubbed out structure, low tempo and trippy progression.
