‘still slipping vol.1’ is the debut full length project from Joy Orbison. Fans of Joy O’s DJ sets and radio shows will already be aware of his diverse tastes and inspirations, represented here through a roll call of delicately curated, mainly UK, collaborators that include Herron, James Massiah, Bathe, Léa Sen, Goya Gumbani and TYSON.
Just as important are the voices of Joy Orbison's family - mum, dad, sister Sarah, uncle Frankie, uncle Keith (recently departed), auntie Helen and cousins Lola and Mia, as well as Leighann, who was the first person to introduce him to drum and bass and garage as a kid and stars on the mixtape’s cover art. They appear throughout the record via a series of voice notes, his only contact with his family during this year of worldwide lockdown and an intimate, vicarious glimpse into the personal world of an artist who has generally side-stepped the public gaze.

South London music venue, radio station and party series AAJA are relaunching their self-titled record label, with a four-track EP from producer and respected DJ, Controlled Weirdness. Titled ‘Sounds From A Disappearing City’ the release will kick-start a quarterly series celebrating South-East London's thriving, underground dance music scene.

"I'm very happy to announce the launch of my label Declassified Records - a home for SP:MC productions moving forward. Starting my own imprint has been something I've been toying with for a while now, yet never given my full focus. As events began to unfold back in spring 2020, I realised there was a great opportunity for me to turn a bad situation into something positive. My busy schedule as a touring artist disappeared overnight, giving me a chance to focus my full attention on my music production.

Other than a couple of remixes, the last proper record I put out was a 12" on Youngsta's label Sentry Records. The tracks 'Vintage' & 'Slugfest' were my first experimentations with garage / 2-step. The release was well received & sold out, but more importantly I had really enjoyed the process of writing the music. Feeling encouraged to continue exploring this new direction, I set about writing a batch of tracks around the garage / 2-step framework, attempting to infuse them with my influences from Drum & Bass and Dubstep.

These tracks are now ready to be released on Declassified as a series of 12" singles, kicking off with DCLSFD001, 'Drawing Sound' with 'Cargo Dub' on the flip."
