Content we’d nailed the EP we had a few TPs pressed; sending them out to a handful of influential DJs and promoters from back in the day. I remember being in a club and hearing a track that sounded a lot like ‘Release Yourself’, only at a slower tempo. The thing was, the DJ who’d got hold of the TP (sorry can’t remember who?!) was a house DJ. He was playing it at 33 rather than 45. Still sounded good as a House track though!! ‘Time to get Raw’ was the first track written by the original Persons Unknown collective and Time to get Raw (Part 2) expanded on the original; adding some extra layers, time stretched beats and a new arrangement. Dope Jam became a favourite with many who bought the original EP I think because it still had that Old Skool 92/93 feel, but with some of the filtered beats and techniques that artists were experimenting with at the time. Killa is definitely my favourite track from the second EP, you can hear all the elements from the contributing artists in this track. As with the first EP we decided to keep the true identity of the artists a mystery; continuing with Persons Unknown. The original artists from 93 still remain a mystery. Re-engineered, Cleaned Up and Remastered in 2020; bringing the music back to life...

"A massive thanks to Mike and Blueskinbadger Records. When someone knocks on your door and tells you that your old tunes from over 20 years ago are still being played and appreciated and that they want to re release them again. What more can I say. Happy f###ing days, smash the s##t out of it ! - Iain Clifton"

It's early 1992, and we'd just created our first track using nothing more than a 4 track sequencer loaded onto an Amiga plugged into a crude 8-bit sampler. That track was "Rock Ya Body". At that time I worked part time in Rob Haigh's Parliament Music Record shops and had got to know him well. I had no idea the impact that "Rock Ya Body" would have as we played a tape of that first recording to Rob. On the strength of that one track, Rob decided to start up the PM label there and then. We sealed the deal over a few cans of Stella and it wasn't long before we'd written 3 more tracks. The tracks were mastered and recorded in Rob Playford's makeshift studio, who had just started his journey with Moving Shadow. Simon & Mark were now Syko & Mak and the Murda EP became the first release on the PM label. Remastered by Syko and Mike Badger during Lockdown 2020; unearthing and using stems and parts from the original tracks. This EP is where it all started...
These are unreleased tracks by S. McCutcheon (Syko) & R. Haigh (Omni-Trio) under the name 'Persons Unknown'. These group of artists collaborated on a number of tracks which were released on the Candidate Records label (a sublabel of Rob’s in-house label, Parliament Music). However, there were a number of unfinished, archived and VIP remixed tracks that are now scheduled for release on Blueskinbadger Records”
Rave had become hardcore – from which a strand called breakbeat house developed. This morphed into breakbeat techno, which became jungle techno. And I turned around to find myself part of a movement that was now known as drum & bass. This further splintered into (labeled by journalists) jump-up and “intelligent drum & bass,” darkcore, artcore, and so on. But the point was that it was always pushing forward; trying out new ideas, never settling on one definable style...” - Rob Haigh

“ One day in early 91 a customer (Syko) came into my shop and played me a rave tune that he had produced on an Amiga. I was so impressed that I offered to put it out even though I didn’t have a label at that time. I then started to fuse my own existing ideas with the new possibilities of sequencing and sampling. Omni Trio grew out of this experimentation, around this time the Parliament Label was born...” - Rob Haigh
