Release Date: 21st June 2019
This time Mr Raoul K is teaming up with fellow producer Mapiko Mweya. They shift Mr Raoul K's usually blend of real westafrican instruments and modern electronic clubsounds towards the electronic soundscape. With the vocals of B'Utiza, they take us on a rollercoaster ride into an urban concrete jungle very reminiscent of the nineteennineties.
Voluminous baselines, westafrican drums, irie layers of swirling sounds, long buildups, occasional breakdowns – delivered with a gritty touch. Mr Raoul K's mix keeps the atmosphere dense while Mapiko goes for a more airy approach - with either mix keeping its rolling groove up until the end. Dance through the darkness until the sunlight creeps through the cellar windows. Watch out for Mr Raoul K's Album 'African Paradigm' out on Compost Records this summer.
