Following their debut on the imprint in 2020, Kassian step up for a second outing on Shall Not Fade, this time via the Basement series. Their return to the label takes a deeper, heavier direction than their previous releases, more suited to a warehouse over an intimate club setting.
As Kassian have continuously pushed their sound forwards, they've gained recent accolades such as contributing to BICEP's Feel My Bicep mix series, playing Mixmag's LAB London live and notable coverage from DJ Mag and more in the last year alone.
Their latest EP 'Breathe' is perfectly placed for the long awaited return to nightlife. The A1 delivers what a true A1 should, a peak time driving track with undeniable energy. "Aerial" pulls back the pace slightly, it's a deep and rolling effort with a classic trance influence. Rounding off the EP is "London Orbital", clearly inspired by the sounds of London that the duo are so familiar with, the track switches up the pace and presents a breaks focussed sound.

B1 Kassian - London Orbital

Down the long driveway at the end of Second Avenue is a single story abode perched on a cliff overlooking the water. The timber constructed house built in the 1950s, is surrounded by native pohutukawa trees whose bright red coloured flowers are mimic'ed by the window frames and detailing of the exterior. As you walk down the narrow path along the side of the property, you can peer into the studio and catch a glance of an older man working away at his desk. Surrounded by books, records and CDs he will be drafting plans by hand for his next project. Continue along the path and reach the edge of the cliff — watch your step as you go down the decaying staircase and arrive at a small landing lapping in the waves of the harbour.
This record is dedicated to my grandfather Jack and the house he built.

We are proud to welcome Felipe Gordon on this second episode of the Groovin Unreleased Series! 'Bringing The Old School Back EP' is a tribute to classic house.
With jazz instrumentation, and elements that resemble the musical group format (solos, phrases with responses, etc), Felipe Gordon conceived this release with the idea of being at the height of Groovin reissues, that goes from genre architects like Blaze, or Chicago pillars like Glenn Underground. Drums and rhythmical phrases maintain dancing intention, while Jazz vibes play on top, the combination of elements that revealed in a certain era the musical potential of house, now created through the lens of a new generation prodigious producer.

New artists on Toy Tonics! Gome are an organic disco duo from Hamburg. Two guys that make good mood disco inspired by the 1980 Italo and Munich Disco vibe and share an addiction to gourmet food. Positive vibes, rolling grooves, catchy melodic bits and vocals and a lot of musicality.
The guys come from Hamburg where they keep strong connections to the other Hamburg disco artists (Erobique, Session Victim..) as well as to Germany’s leading skate crews Cleptomanicx and Lobby.
For one track of the EP they invited one of Germanys most interesting underground rap artists to do a german hip house tune: Tightill. Funkiest guy from Germany on a mic.
gome add a raw energy to the currently growing house vibe. A live energy that real house music enthusiasts might have missed far too long. With an all-hardware / no-computer setup, their sound would best be described as honest and rough Live-House and Disco-Funk. Infused with elements of soul, boogie and synth-wave. Deliberately moving away from clean computerized music, the two musicians regularly pull out their instruments and play live in front of a club audience. Soon hopefully on Toy Tonics Jams worldwide.

Established and loved member of the Shall Not Fade Family, Felipe Gordon turns up the jazz influence on a fresh new EP for the label. The producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Colombia is known for his complex compositions and infectious beats, and Keepin' It Jazz does not disappoint.
The record kicks off with "Analog Only" - a highly textural beat forms the core of this bass-heavy groover that cruises along at a laid back pace, drawing the listener further in. Similarly gentle but hypnotic, "Continuous Develop" has the heady ambience of the chillout room, but Gordon brings in his intricate dreamy instrumentation and acid hints to great effect.
The second half centres a tasty bass solo that will get all heads nodding along. The title track is the chunkiest of house rhythms paired with delicate jazzy piano, a gliding summer party anthem. "Looking Your Reflection In The Water" is artful, perfectly emotive and gently rising like a tide from poolside piano into a hip-moving danceable pulse. The record closes out to "What You Say?"; funky house with attitude, a rude bassline and heavy swagger.

DaM-FunK brings his Architecture Trilogy on Saft to a close with a fantastic final EP. The series started in 2016, included the second volume in 2018, and now wraps up with a double 12" packed with heat from the legendary Californian beatmaker.
DaM-FunK has been in a class of one since first emerging in 2008. He's a definitive Stones Throw Records artist, musician and vocalist, boss of GlydeZone Recordings, a sometime Snoop Dogg collaborator and prolific producer of tens of EPs, 14 albums and a timeless entry to the DJ-kicks series. What he doesn't know about boogie, g-funk and synth-pop isn't worth knowing, and this final Architecture EP is another doozy.
The gorgeous 'Grow' immediately sinks you into a hazy house vibe. Lo-fi beats and farsighted chords melt your heart and lock you in a gentle groove. 'Night Kruise' lays down a classic DaM-FunK bassline then builds it up with melancholic keys and lowslung funk that is simply irresistible, then 'Think' ups the pace with a punchy but still deep house groove, heat-damaged chords and a clipped bass phrase that makes you move.
The seductive sounds continue through the balmy 'Feel' in which you can almost see palm trees and burnt orange Cali skies as the low riding groove skates along in lovably low key fashion. 'Sun Gospel' is a perfectly rough edge MPC workout with busy keys, scruffy kicks and bright boogie all jostling for your attention, and 'Shine' closes with a prickly boom-bap, knotted bassline and epic prog-guitar riffs that ring out into a latenight sky.
Architecture III is another heart aching, humid and feel-good house EP from the one and only DaM-FunK.

Moving into the summer, Phuture Shock Musik strikes back with their next release ‘A New Day’ EP, which sees Bristol soulful house don Sean McCabe join forces with Barcelona’s shining bruk export Damian Botigué, aka Karmasound, for a collaborative 3-track EP. In addition to the production pair, the project also features guest spots from US soul sensation Erik Rico and upcoming Barcelona-based artist Mabreezee, altogether making for an exciting, international all-star line-up.
Already a familiar face on Phuture Shock, Karmasound returns once again on Josiah Hartley’s label after his acclaimed debut LP ‘La Búsqueda’, which was released in 2020. Inspired by the highly collaborative spirit of the global bruk movement, and given his past growing number of joint efforts with local and overseas talent, the multi-skilled producer further displays his team player chops on this latest collective outing. While the ever-prolific Sean McCabe joins the fold, here sharing the bill on the EP, and making something of a welcome return to PSM following his classy remixes of Karmasound’s 2019 single ‘Can See Thru You’. Firmly established in the world of deep soulful house, the producer and DJ’s many highly sought remixes and original productions feature among the vast catalogues of Z records, Strictly Rhythm, King Street Sounds, Local Talk, and his own Good Vibrations imprint, to note a few.
For the three tracks that make up ‘A New Day’ EP, both artist’s combine their remarkable skills and shared influences to rustle up a sizzling melting pot of house, broken beat, soul, Brazilian and Afro-Latin flavours. The results are musically rich and abound in slick, jazzy grooves, exuberant rhythms for dancefloors and headphones alike, rousing guest vocals with life-affirming lyrics, and pure summery vibes - all of which offers hope for better days to come as ‘Freedom Day’ looms closer.

German DJ and producer Marc Brauner returns to the Killer Cuts series which he kicked off for Shall Not Fade back in February, sharing five tracks of hard pumping house to lose yourself in.
Patience EP starts as it means to go on with "Your Heart"; a hot cut of anthemic earworm organ house that doesn't hold back on the summertime rave nostalgia. Brauner explores 2-step on searing A2 "Optimist" which is riddled with deep house energy and a syncopated bassline that'll put a swing in your step.
"Be Patient" channels how we have all been feeling this past year waiting for the return of the dance; it carries Strictly Rhythm influence and a prescient vocal motif. The record closes but doesn't fade away, ending with "Faster", where momentous uplifting synth stable tumble forwards to great effect. The digital bonus track is "In Love", another playful, hypnotic bassline complimenting the consistent feel good vibes.
