Following on from the positive feedback for KRL's "Third" EP (Quintessentials 62), we had to give the standout track "Never Leave" the remix treatment. "Never Leave" is a straight up house track with thosebeats and rhythmic synths, but with the outstanding vocals of Janine Small it makes it a head turner!
The A-side remix, courtesy of Greymatter (Wolf Music, Unique Uncut) keeps the overall vibe of the original, but adds more dirt and bass business ready for club action. The B-side remix courtesy of Quintessentials buddy Loz Goddard (Church, Razor-n-Tape) takes a step into deep broken beat territory while keeping the beautiful vocals. We love both remixes, job's done!

Matasuna Records presents another treat with its latest release: an official reissue with two songs of the US funk band "Calender". Both tracks are available on a 12" Maxi-Single for the first time. In addition to the mastered original versions, this EP features great reworks by two of our favorite producers: Mexican disco edit king "Hotmood" and the highly acclaimed Matasuna artist "Voodoocuts".
The opener "Hypertension" is a disco banger par excellence. Kyser's sophisticated arrangements merge thrilling grooves, elegant strings, varied funk elements and soulful vocals to a great and unique joint for every dancefloor. It's very pleasing that the song doesn't get overloaded or cheesy, as it's often the case in disco music.
Hotmood transfers the track, which was created more than 3 decades ago, into the present time. His great disco edit focuses on the instrumental parts of the original. Thanks to his clever arrangement, a tension curve is constantly built up without seeming repetitive.
On the flipside, "Ritmo Latino" takes a different musical direction. As the name suggests, there are all kinds of Latin American influences to be heard: the brass section, rhythm parts, piano sounds and the grooving bass line, which goes straight into the veins. Nevertheless, the song is also strongly rooted in funk & jazz and inspires its listeners with its unique character.
Voodoocuts rework comes up with a monster broken beat and gives the song a dancefloor friendly structure with its new arrangement. Especially the killer break part in the middle of the song will not only make B-Boy hearts beat faster! Additional instruments, samples and effects give the rework an individual and autark touch and prove once again impressively that Voodoocuts is setting the bar higher and higher with his productions.

Prins Oblonsky (aka Tobias Fredø), is an Oslo-based composer and producer. He got his musical start studying the trombone and the guitar. Then he bought his first sampler at 18 and, inspired by artists like J Dilla and 9th Wonder, he began to make hip-hop beats and earned his chops by participating in beat battles on the Stones Throw forum. Over the years, Tobias developed a love and fascination for analogue sounds and synthesizers, obsessing over them in all his spare time. At 23, he started working with music and soundscapes for short-films, and his sound move in a more electronic, house music direction, inspired by artists like Floating Points, Four Tet, Rival Consoles, and fellow Norwegian Bjørn Torske.
The Dreams On Hold EP is Prins Oblonsky's debut on the Beatservice label, and it packs a warm punch. The title track launches the EP with an understated four-on-the-floor rhythm and a sparkling, distant arpeggiation. The feeling is indeed dream-like, energetic in tempo but soothing in tone. "Dancing On Graves" follows, presenting mesmerizing lo-fi beats while short pad bursts and echoed synth melodies play in the sonic field. Subtle techno elements characterize "Østerdalen", while the funkiest drum sequence on the EP drives the deepness into forward motion. The EP closes with the introspective "A Farewell To Arms", which ebbs and flows mistily around its warm sustained pad and beguiling synth motif. This is deep house for dreamers.

Ahhhh the joys of creating a new label! I have started Holding Hands Again to bring to light some records from the past that I adore and think should be made more widely available so that everyone can slam them in the club.
Wiggle is a label that I hold very dear to my heart. It doesn’t need an introduction but suffice to say I play and love a lot of records off this classic label. A Long Weight by Timmy S & JB is probably my favourite release on there and so I am ultra buzzing to be able to announce that it will be the inaugural release on my new imprint.
In my opinion it really sums up the classic Wiggle sound. Squiggly wiggly synths, skittering pacey drums and weird FX. These tracks have been doing the business for over twenty years and I fully expect them to continue to do so for many more decades to come.
This re release has been freshly remastered for maximum boost and it comes with a new acid mix that the guys found when they were looking through their old DATs. Tasty.
All three tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. They want big sound systems and dark rooms.
Close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight...

Kornél Kovács' second album is on the way via Studio Barnhus, which he runs with Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman. Stockholm Marathon sees the Swedish-Hungarian producer, who was born in the Swedish capital, "reflecting a lot on this beautiful, boring city I never quite manage to move away from," he says, after moving back last September. Kovács credits his "dearest Stockholm people" for making the LP his most collaborative and most personal release. That list includes jazz musician Niclas Skagstedt, Matt Karmil, Rebecca & Fiona and Malin Gabriella Nordin, who did the artwork. The LP, which arrives in April, is his second full-length, following 2016's The Bells, also released on Studio Barnhus.

Fast emerging artist Kincaid has unveiled a new collaborative record with the respected British synth-pop act Blancmange. ‘Big Fat Head’ will land on Moscoman’s famed Disco Halal imprint. Clad with percussive textures, the release marks a father and son team-up with Kincaid (Joe Arthur) and father, Neil Arthur, via the Blancmange project. Accompanied by a remix from Moscoman and Trikk under the Nucat moniker, ‘Big Fat Head’ is turned into a chugging synth-wave melody. The record marks the first original production from the pair, who have previously collaborated on a string of remixes for Blancmange’s ‘What’s The Time’, ‘Distant Storm’ and ‘Not A Priority’ - taken from the acclaimed albums ‘Wanderlust’ and ‘Unfurnished Rooms’. Based in Berlin, but firmly rooted in the diverse and forward-facing musical scene of Tel Aviv, Moscoman’s Disco Halal label hails from beneath the minarets of the Holy Land. The imprint exists to present a tightly-knit and growing community of musicians and producers, each transmitting their unique musical identity, yet each united by a unique sensibility, as well as a harmonious balance of rhythm and experimentation. Encompassing elements of downtempo, new-wave and alternative pop, stitched together with a leftfield dancefloor throb, Disco Halal’s back-catalogue, filled with efforts from the likes of Simple Symmetry,The Organism and Moscoman himself, has seen the imprint rapidly emerging from the once-overlooked nightlife and club scene of Tel Aviv into the worldwide spectrum.

Houseum Records draft in Gavinco again for their third release, an up and coming artist, first discovered via HSM001, Various Artists - The Four J's.
This time the young producer takes full control with his debut solo EP, "Caravella". The 4 tracks roll in the sweet return of Spring and the first rays of sun - Set off on a journey through rich melodies, merging House rhythms and Jazzy atmospheres.
The exploration starts with ‘Caravella’ the lead track of the release. Dreamy trumpet lines float you on the wind while the harmonious melody transports you through soothing atmospheres drenched with colourful jazz overtones.
Drifting into 'Assam', we’re treated to a smoked out electro funk fusion. Electric guitars play against the pure backdrop created by the jazz flute while, this time, the trumpet drives home the lower frequencies, leading you through the psychedelic haze.
Turn the wheel and move towards warmer horizons with 'Le Désir' - tropical rhythms created by a cocktail of frenzied percussions, enhanced by the sun. ‘Le Désir’ exudes an aura of hypnotising sensuality.
The sun dips below the horizon as we lower the anchor at the final destination. 'Lu Sentiments’ eases you into the night under deliciously dreamy synths. The rhythm is soothing and the echoes of sweet voices resonate in you..

New York’s indie disco freaks Phenomenal Handclap Band is back with a second single on Toy Tonics: Jail. With remixes by Detroit’s Waajeed and Marcel Vogel of Lumberjacks in Hell. Including a club edit by Toy Tonics head honcho Kapote. The band was responsible for one of Toy Tonics’ biggest tracks in 2018: Judge Not: The Ray Mang version became a hit on open minded dancefloors around the globe: with support from DJ’s like DJ Harvey, Cassius and Gilles Peterson (who put it int his „best track of the year“ list) but also more house DJ’s like Berlin’s Keine Musik Crew, Soundstream or Superpitcher. The band’s members are kind of heroes to many connoisseurs of the funk/ disco scene. The band leader Daniel Collas was playing keys in Amy Winehouse legendary backing band. Other members are connected to Mark Ronson’s crew or San Francisco’s Stones Throw universe.. just to give u the bigger picture. With The Phenomenal Handclap Band they blend the unique vibe of 1970ies Power-Soul in the traditon of Charles Stepney and Rotary Connection with today’s new disco vibe. Parcels, Toro Y Moi, Roosevelt are not that far. Important fact: All played live, no samples. Mixed by the champs at DFA. The band is part of Toy Tonics’s masterplan to expand their dancevibes into more live played scenarios.. stepping out of the strict DJ context. Fun fact? Paul McCartney wrote the band a letter saying how much he loved their music when he first heard the band on BBC Radio 1.
