London’s Tehbis and Touchy Subject land on Astrophonica with Magnet For Your Mind, a joint EP that represents the yin and yang of their creativity. Produced without overthinking, the EP’s six tracks are split into distinct halves: one built for the dancefloor, the other for the headphones. “We use a multitude of platforms to write our music,” says the pair, who have made quiet moves over the past five years with releases on Brownswood Recordings, Numbers, and Wot Not. “Digital production, live instrumentation, samples, live vocals. Hopefully the result is music that people can relate to and vibe off.”
The A side caters to the dancefloor with three uptempo cuts. ‘1988’ is the first production the pair finished together, a mellow slice of chopped ragga jungle built on booming 808s and floating arpeggiated melodies that dance around the beat. This is followed by ‘Harrangutan’, aka “the piglet beat”, a quick burst of adrenaline to your neck that channels the stripped-back aesthetics of the beat scene and its less-is-more approach. ‘Kush’ closes the dance with more ragga-tinged vibes but this time in a leaner dub stance, live bass playing off a shifting rhythm track and vocal samples rippling off a cavernous sonic interior.
Flip over to the B side for the soundtrack to the ride home after a night out. The cinematic ’Elephants In The Room’ kicks it off with a bubbling groove, the rhythm switching between double and half time as sampled chants play against warm synthesizers and live bass. ‘Magnet For Your Mind’ is the pair’s ode to classic downtempo hip-hop vibes with cheerful samples, warm keys and a stirring vocal from Yawning Young. The EP closes with ‘He Who Knows’ a slightly more energetic production with Yawning Young intoning “my brother, he makes me feel alive” as the beat slides off into the distance.
Magnet For Your Mind EP is something a little different from Astrophonica, a representation of the label’s desire to explore the varied possibilities of dance music and its modern ramifications.

This the Second album by Big Funk Factory D-Funkt! the soundtrack to the story "TRANSACTION DECLINED" traces the final adventure of Dweeb Droid and introduces aged rocker AWM, whose perfidious character we will suffer a good deal more in the final chapter of the Big Funk epic "Bucky Ball".
Anyway back to D-Funkt! the band's usual cast features amongst others Mat Johnson (Jamiroquai, Laura Doggit, Julian Perretta, Duffy) as The Nerdmeister General on keyboards. Wayne Nunes and Perry Melius (Tricky, Aswad, Billy Ocean) as That Tall Bloke and The Metrognome on bass and drums.
Michael Brown (George Michael, Chaka Khan, Leona Lewis) on guitar in the guise of The Widdler, Jodie Linscott (Just … Everybody look her up on google) as The Lin Machine on percussion and Vanessa Haynes (Incognito, The Gorillaz, Van Morrison) and Janet Ramus (Shapeshifters, David Bowie; The Eurythmics) who are cast in the roles of Siren One and Two and feature on the track "She wants what wants."
Some notable guest appearances include Ernie Mckone (Galliano, Push, Candi Statton) as The Slightly Shorter Bloke whose bass features on "Independent Street", Rob Hughs (ABC, Heather Small, "Eddie the Eagle film soundtrack) in the role of Bobby Pop Sax and Tim Cansfield (The Bee Gees, Steve Winwood, Annie Lennox) who for the benefit of this album goes under the title Acoustico Fantastica. His fabulous Spanish guitar playing features on "Only The Silent Survive".
Andy Wood Mitchell (The AM Band, Andy & The BigFunk, Andy & the Other One) the organizer of this musical menagerie revises his past role from Big Funk Factory's first epic "D-roid Portrait of a Serial Singer" as D-roid's nemesis Dweeb Droid in addition to the newly created character of obnoxiousness AWM.
Slightly darker in tone the concept of the album sees the land of D-roid and Dweeb,
Middle England plunged into civil chaos that develops into a full blown civil war and yet more discoveries about these creatures origins and for the first time some of the lyrics actually feature direct references to what's actually going on in the plot.
The Music begins with a more electro funk vibe than the previous release but the introduction of live instrumentation later on brings the sound right back to the Funk base that was established in the first album "Factory Sample".

Hip Hop has never seen another album quite like Ol’ Dirty Bastard's 1995 solo debut Return to the 36 Chambers. With RZA guiding production, the album allowed Dirty the creative license to make one of the most bizarre, entertaining and original LPs in the history of the genre. Return became an instant hit, selling over 1 million copies and earning a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album. The album stands as a high water mark in the Wu-Tang Clan's collective creative output and was selected as one of the Best 100 Rap Albums by The Source. In honoring the legacy of one of hip-hop's most innovative releases, Get On Down is proud to present this incredible shaped picture disc. The vinyl features the first two singles, Brooklyn Zoo & Shimmy Shimmy Ya, released from this seminal full-length and is a recreation of the iconic “food stamp card” that serves as the album’s cover art.

Following the release of 2015 debut EP, ‘Green Eyes’ — a record that followed two outings on the label’s ‘Kings’ compilation series in 2013 and 2014 and a contribution to Boxed’s debut 12”, ‘BOXED001’ — Spokes returns to Coyote Records with new EP, ‘Flight’. Consisting of four tracks, ‘Flight’ showcases an evocative, maturing sound and Spokes’ flair for original sound design — as testified by the dwindling space and eerie, pitched-up vocals of NYC singer-songwriter, Anna Folwell, utilised on opener, ‘Failed State’. The grand, ceremonious intro to square-wave grime flip, ‘Mercurial’, is also a highlight, while title-track, ‘Flight’ — a dreamy, washed out, beat-tape cut — again sees Spokes explore new dynamics to his sound. Latest Coyote signee, Miami-based producer Marks, also makes his bow for the label on ‘Flight’, turning in a crunchy, clapped-out remix of the title-track, ahead of his full debut EP in 2017.

Back again on vinyl where it belongs, MF DOOM's 1999 classic Operation: Doomsday is now presented on a premium-grade split-colored LP, with audio re-mastered from the original Fondle'Em Records release, and a poster of the album cover art! Underneath his mysterious metal mask, MF DOOM hides the cachet underground legends are made of. After KMD (his first group)’s 1994 sophomore album Bl_ck B_st_rds was shelved by Elektra in 1994 and his blood brother Subroc (one half of the sibling rap duo) passed away, surviving frontman Zev Love X mutated into the MC Avenger known as MF DOOM and the Rap world is better for it. This 19-cut deep album is ridiculously dope, in a bizarro Ol’ Dirty Bastard kind of way. Doom sounds either high or drunk on most of the tracks, his self-produced beats are gritty, and his rhyme styles are almost indecipherable. On arguably the best track, “Rhymes Like Dimes,” Doom weaves some pointed lyrics through his abstract wordplay, spitting ‘only in America could you find a way to earn a healthy buck / And still keep your attitude on self-destruct.’ Who You Think I Am? features DOOM‘s crew M.onster I.sland C.zars, while on “?” he trades hot verses with former Columbia artist Kurious Jorge. Doom’s avant-garde ghetto-rhyme philosophies take even more intentionally weird twists on “Tick, Tick...” where he and guest MC MF Grimm’s flows warble over a rhythm track whose tempo speeds up and slows down continually. The comic-book themed skits, will help take you deep into the mind of an MC who is as otherworldly as they come. And in today’s bland commercial Rap universe, Operation: Doomsday’s left-of-center beats and rhymes are the perfect remedy.

In a world without hope, a world with no appetite for sonic adventures, there's only one man who can save us all. He is... the Sample Jesus! From behind the enchanted pyramids of Egypt comes a man that has nothing to prove but a lot to give. Taught by a legendary Pharaoh, he has lived the life of an eremite for decades. Exhausted after years of asceticism there was only one goal on his mind: to blow all the misery out of our heads. On the constant search for the perfect sample he listened to the finest Mongolian folk to experimental Tuvan Throat singings. It was only recently that he was returning from his self-imposed exile to come up with a record that hits deep in everybody's soul. Hallelujah, House-heads and Hip-Hop-kids, be prepared. For Teklife’s follow up release, DJ Earl takes centre stage. A leading figure in the footwork movement, and long time collaborator with DJ Rashad, DJ Earl is a key member of the Teklife family. Marsman started making hiphop beats in 2005. Pretty soon he found that making solely hiphop beats was a limitation he had to get rid of and that’s when the basis of Marsman’s music was born: No genres. He developed a foundation in experimentation and started exploring new niches – without going into a genre too deep to remain unique and to keep surprising himself with sounds and rhythms he had never heard before. That is the second rule in Marsman’s music: He makes music for himself – as an expression of the (sub)conscious. In all his 15+ previous, mostly self-released, EP’s you can clearly hear the development of his mindstate often going through feels of manic, chaotic and restless auditive experiments. Marsman has also been lucky enough to explore this experimental stage of composing and producing music by attending Utrecht’s School of Music & Technology for some years. Though, this stage of experimentation will, in some way, never end. There is no end goal and there is only development to be unfolded.
New Kind of Purple only just recently Marsman concluded that his main goal in music is to communicate his mind-states through the meditative powers of frequencies. He chose to take the time to be more conscious about what the music will communicate, instead of communicating his tracks that only rising from the subconscious.
The album has a lot more depth , tranquillity and imagination to it when compared with his earlier work.
The first effects of this insight are represented in this 45 minute long trip through memories, possibilities and personal realities. There’s no definition of what it ís about – it just is, like most things in life, completely open for interpretation.

Mixing abstract hip-hop and house, Blutch's style is mind-blowing and striking, with touches of groove and heat. Borrowing from Pépé Bradock, Francis Inferno Orchestra,Cuthead, Andrés, Shigeto and Massive Attack, Blutch has forged a unique musical identity all along his career, always with this strong desire to combine several universes into a single entity.
In January 2015 Blutch revealed his creative genius with his first EP, Equilibrium. He will soon revisit a voluptuous set mixing trip hop, the softness of electronica and a hypnotic deephouse. [r]equilibrium unites 9 artists in one project that represents Blutch’ diverse musical spectre.
Friends, idols, people who we loved to collaborate with, spend time with, get to know better. The [r] stands for the remix, the reinterpretation of Blutch’ EP Equilibrium. Each artist gives new life to one of the tracks, spicing them up to their liking. Cuthead transforms « Skyview » in a straight-up house floor killer while Maxime Dangles takes « Chocolates & Hamburgers » to gloomy, cold electronic heights. Between these two extremes the music gradually and cleverly evolves track by track. Melodiesinfonie opens up in complete serenity with his take on « A. » which takes us straight into summer with our feet in the sand. Tito Wun follows up perfectly with his version of “Wildstar” that is stacked with groovy samples. Next up is Keroué, member of the band Fixpensill. He puts his rhymes on a stellar edit by YWNWA. Jenovah choses to take “Deep Diving” on a bass-driven path while Pavane sees and raises that with an orchestral version of Anyoma. It’s up to the brothers Ark & Pit Spector to close out the EP by taking « Elis » into deeper territory.
The tracks subtly follow each other up to tell a consecutive story. Thanks to the music of Blutch, these 8 tracks stay connected on this diverse but coherent EP. Driven by our sense of partying and our willingness to meet the people we have been sharing our music with over more than a year, we decided to throw 4 release parties, hosting Cuthead, Pit Spector, Tito Wun and Jenovah, who we hadn’t met before. Sold out nights, balloons, jokes, fun and groove. Really proud of the project in general, the artists’ work and our flawless casting. The project has forged bonds between artists that wanted to continue their collaborations, Blutch and Cuthead will now even be playing back2back at Festival Astropolis July 2nd .

Copenhagen representative Shield has been on a constant rise with his innovative contribution to hiphop and drum&bass over the past couple of years. With support from Noisia, Hype, Skeptical, Alix Perez, The Upbeats, TC and many more, the future is looking bright for the 28 year old scandinavian as he continues to develop his own sound.
Having a master degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music playing classical percussion, Shield has great knowledge when it comes to drums and always had a passion of creating new grooves and unheard rhythms. Inspiration has come from a wide selection of electronic artists and classical music, and has given him the gift of blending it all together in his productions.
Sounding like a vintage scary movie on crack, tracks like "Horrormovie" were given as a free download on his soundcloud page, and got huge response when Ivy Lab played it on their Critical Sound show on RinseFM back in march 2015. The track was also supported by Noisia on their weekly podcast and they even put it on their Favourites Of 2015 tracklist.
With lots of exciting solo projects and collaborations with producers abroad, Shield is also keeping it local. He and his good friend and also MC, Black Daniels, has been making music together for quite some years and they've toured many countries with their energetic live show, produced entirely by Shield himself. Back in 2014 they were invited to Redbull Studios in Copenhagen to record Black Daniels' debut EP. It came out on Black Daniels' own imprint CART Records, and the EP got them playing at some of the biggest festivals in Scandinavia.
With releases on various drum&bass labels such as CART Records, Blackout Music NL, Gun Audio and Nemesis Recordings UK to name a few, Shield strives to produce the full spectrum - yet always with his signature sound. Wether it's drum&bass, hiphop or any kind of breakbeat, Shield always manages to break barriers with his shuffling drums, stabbin' basslines and weird foleys.

Over his years of releasing music, Yip Wong AKA Deft has become an immediately recognisable producer that skilfully hops from headphone to dance styles through cinematic sound design, crisp intricate percussion and immersive atmospheres.
Having come from Croydon, with his beginnings in music as a drummer, Deft has managed to escape the stigma of his home town's heritage and establish his own signature sonic personality, drawing influence from Hip Hop, House, 140, Jungle and Footwork. However, with this in mind, he is able to display these influences through technique and style, making him impressively adept at shaking off the constraints of genre and tempo. This identity has gained him the support of Gilles Peterson, B.Traits, Mark Pritchard, Addison Groove, DJ Shadow, Daedelus, Om Unit and Rockwell amongst many others.
Beginning with the release of his track 'Paradise' on Disconnected Sounds in 2011, swiftly followed by the first in a series of beat tapes through Bandcamp ('Before' Series), Deft's profile within the electronic music scene has seen him strive from peak to peak through a strong and consistent set of highly praised EP's, singles and remixes through labels such as WotNot, Rwina, Project Mooncircle, Skullcandy, 2nd Drop, Brownswood and Hypercolour offshoot Space Hardware. Collaborative efforts have included the grammy award-winning Om’mas Keith, Sam Binga, Manni Dee, Fracture and Alphabets Heaven.
Along with having the opening track for Maya Jane Coles' 'DJ Kicks Mix CD' (!K7 Records), remixing for the likes of Gang Colours (Brownswood), Ital Tek (Civil Music), Ivy Lab (Critical Music) Submerse (Project Mooncircle), Tiga and Graham Coxon (EMI), and having received huge press support from XLR8R, Pitchfork and FACT Magazine (Against The Clock feature), Deft shows no sign of stopping his ever growing arsenal of extensive and varied material.
As a member of the ever-expanding WotNot Music collective, Deft began his performances through live shows, bringing high levels of vigour and excitement to dance-floors in the UK, and has now transferred this energy into his his eclectic and fruitful DJ Sets around the world. Along with headline shows, he has supported the likes of Machinedrum, Martyn, Tessela, Bullion, Tokimonsta, Reso and Paul White, as well as having an appearance on the infamous Boiler Room.
From hard hitting, highly energised dance-floorcuts, to lo-fi, emotively powerful soundscapes, this is the ever-evolving world of Deft.
