Ross From Friends—AKA British producer Felix Clary Weatherall—returns with ‘Tread’, his keenly anticipated new album, due for release on 22nd October via Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint.
On ‘Tread’ Ross From Friends dials up the intricate and emotive qualities of his production style that have previously led Mixmag to praise his “idiosyncratic dexterity that not only makes your heart ache, but dance right out of your chest”. An artist who demonstrates an ever-increasing mastery of his craft, ‘Tread’ is a record that is at once sleek and melodic but also eminently danceable, nostalgic but brilliantly modern, with nods to sounds and styles that are not so much reflected but refracted and recontextualised through Clary Weatherall’s lens.

Release Date: 19th November 2021
Following on from the 2020 release of ‘On A Nimbus’, Priori returns with his second album ‘Your Own Power’ to be released on the 12th November via NAFF - the label he co-founded alongside Ex-Terrestrial.
‘Your Own Power’ was produced between April and July of 2020, with the lockdown allowing Priori to spend more time in the studio exploring new instruments and wiring the equipment in new inspiring ways. Like a lot of people, the isolation and change of pace got him back into more contemplative styles of music like shoegaze and ambient, which had a big impact on how the album was recorded. The only collaboration on the album is ‘The Tower’ which was recorded with Ex-Terrestrial in Montreal and highlights the contemplative quality that defines the album.
With the extra time to focus in the studio and work on producing sounds from scratch, ‘Your Own Power’ is Priori’s first record almost entirely made using synthesis. This follows on from the ‘Little Flower’ EP, released earlier this year, which was the first time Priori used his own voice on a record. There’s a sense of optimism on ‘Your Own Power’ with a colder, more crystalline sound giving the album a bright and sparkly feeling.
For the record, Priori has teamed up with fellow Canadian artist Matt Cangiano on the artwork who is known for creating beautiful hybrid pieces that bridge biology, botany, and the digital world. Additional design is the work of French artist Ellyson Gasparetto.
Priori is an alias of Francis Latreille who first put out solo releases on Greek label Echovolt and Canadian imprint ASL Singles Club. Known to be an avid collaborator, Latreille is involved in a number of projects including Jump Source, M.S.L., Housemates, New World Science, ANF and more. He has also worked on mixing projects by fellow artists including Roza Terenzi, Ex-Terrestrial, RAMZi, Bambii, and Ouri.

The Colours That Rise return for a quick lap around Earth with this special offering , "Mixtape 1" - comprising of one brand new studio production and two new compositions recorded live from the mothership in 2020 AD.
The new record may be short but contains 3 very different moods guaranteed to take you away. Their Earth-based ally - Yussef Dayes, returns to the drumkit on "Special Request" for a slice of extra terrestrial, year 3000 funk.
“Axel G” see's the team speed things up for the imminent return of clubbing to Planet Earth. The pandemic didn't reach outer space, and the martian calendar has afforded The Colours That Rise ample time to test out and refine their club dynamics: think Afrika Bambaata meets Drexciya on Mars.
The EP is closed out with “Polo 1.2” - which sees a welcome return of Simeon Jones to vocal duties - pining for a return to his roots - "no matter which way we go". 21st Century Intergalactic home sick blues.
We hope this offering bridges the gap to the next TCTR longplayer, scheduled upon their next trip back home…

London born and raised artist Parris announces his much anticipated debut album, Soaked in Indigo Moonlight. The full length release is due out on 19 November via can you feel the sun, the label he co-founded with Berlin based producer and DJ, Call Super.
Regarded in the scene as a slow-burning unique talent, Parris’ discography includes releases via The Trilogy Tapes, Wisdom Teeth, Idle Hands and Hemlock all of which helped him carve out his own distinctive place within the contemporary electronic music landscape.
The album is a sharp piece of storytelling that weaves together stripped-down, club rooted pop, expansive experiments in rhythm and a sense of air and space that allows collaborations to flourish. In a eulogy to friendship and skateboarding, Eden Samara turns Skater's World into a carefree anthem. James K's vocals breathe a frayed hopefulness to closer falling in the waves. Alongside these two rising talents, Carmen Villian and Call Super contribute with symbiotic visions that underpin the ideas and spontaneity at the heart of the record. It is an album that is difficult to imagine ever coming from anywhere but London steeped, as it is, in the wilful desire for idiosyncrasy that lies at the heart of the best of UK culture.
As the fog from over a year of lockdowns lifts, this talented producer is stepping out with his most impressive body of work to date and a whole new sense of direction and purpose.

“Unlike much of my work recently, it is not a ‘concept album’ and is without any collaborators. I just wanted to focus on my core sound really but without any of the genre tropes that may have been present the last time I made a solo album.
I had hoped that the album could work on multiple levels. In that respect, it is intended as a psychedelic album as much as anything. You can listen to it in a more meditative way without getting distracted by the details. I suppose that is why the frequency spectrum is more similar to my earlier work, but there is a lot going on under the surface and it can be quite demanding if you are paying attention as there are odd time signatures and dissonant elements in there too. Light and shadow I guess. I am hoping that it may be the kind of album that people play at the end of an excessive night, like after a club being back home with some friends, sleep deprivation and whatever else kicking in together with the music helping to launch your mind into space! I am also hoping though that it will be interesting enough to stand up in the cold sober light of day as ‘just good engaging music’.
It is quite foggy and scuzzy in feel and I am using a lot of filtering and reverb to get this. I think the vocal samples are an attempt to offset this, to bring a bit of light to the murkiness. I also wanted the vocal aspects to reflect influences or things I could closely identify with for the most part, so there are a few hints at British folk songs in amongst the music, albeit rather ghostly and not directly recognisable. But anyway, all this is much more a question of feel, rather than a signifier in this respect. I like the haunting, melancholic aspects of these songs I suppose.
I am putting it out on my own label, Woe To The Septic Heart! I just felt it was time for that. It is a bad time for pressing records but conversely, Bandcamp has proved to be useful in showing you do not need to have the backing of an established label. I think I can do something independently and hope that it will still reach the public.”

A big SKRS classic…
Rare and sought after for many years, and now pressed up on vinyl for the first time!
ROOTPRINCIPLE was originally released on cassette in edition of 100 copies via NoCorner in 2014.
– this previously hard-to-find album – to our ears one of Seekersinternational’s very best – is now available on vinyl for the first time, remastered and pressed up on high quality wax, served with a re-styled version of the original artwork from MYSTERYFORMS.
We’re really proud of this one, it was always one of our favourites from the NC catalogue, and somehow it felt right to give this one new life again, almost 7 years since it’s original release on tape, and having passed the test of time (with ease).
Made almost entirely out of chops from those reggae drum rolls we all cherish so much, and driven by vocal loops from the historic landscapes of Kingston, this SKRSINTL album goes to the deepest dubwise depths of rootical meditation, across 10 tracks, SKRS stylee.
Some might recognise the relation – in sound and vibe – to the more recent Bokeh Versions / NoCorner co-release with SKRS ‘RunComeTest’ – that’s because the tracks from that EP were made during the same era of sound search from the elusive SKRSINTL collective.
Anyway! Without further delay – read the original words to go with the sound, written by SKRS back in 2014, when we first dropped the tape:
“Machete pon left and a dagger pon the right
The seeker sets about on an inner pilgrimage
Hacking thru a dense tangle of circuit overgrowth and corrosion
The lush canopy, seen from above
Belies the dread and danger lying-smiling in wait within
Lions in sentinel; challenging those who profess their fidelity
Steel horn speakers call from towers on high while
Drums rumbling from a distance approach
Where time cuts to the chase, notions leave no trace…”
… Echo’d out, reverberant AIRHORN!

Lee Gamble completes his ‘Flush Real Pharynx 2019-2021’ album cycle with ‘A Million Pieces Of You’, the third EP of a triptych written in a time when the subjective experience of overload came to a halt, giving way to an overbearing sense of loss, burnout and a desperate need for hope. These seven tracks feel more reflective, more human than the two preceding EPs; the serpentine dopplers
and seductive supercar engines of ‘In A Paraventral Scale’, and imploding motion sculptures of ‘Exhaust’. A deepfake of Lee’s voice appears from the chaotic slow-mo crash of ‘Balloon Lossy’, timidly telling of “[garbled]... good news”. The uncanny spectre of deep fakes, AI and deep learning models give way to the melancholic loneliness of the solo piano in ‘Empty Middle Seat’. Then glimmering, golden pads on ‘Hyperpassive’ slowly crawl into the hopeful, bright arpeggiations of ‘Balloon Copy’. ‘A Million Pieces Of You’ is a ride through a part-synthetic, part-modelled, part-imitation, part-taught, part-human, part-hopeful, part-reflective and paradoxically affirmative space – an involuntarily fitting finale to an album originally conceived in a world different to the one we now inhabit.

Vivod label boss Ali Renault serves up this rather moody ep in memory of his late friend, Pete Mangalore of Human Shield fame. The five tracker kicks off with Northdown Acid, a brooding sprawl with elements of Italo and acid combined to beautiful effect. The amusingly titled Imminent Salad follows with its jacking strut groove, laden with lush pads. Peter Summoning breaks up the ep with its simple ambient suggestion. On the flip things get going again with slo mo stomper Forbidden Mind before title track Nawce Blizzard closes with it’s electro style hypnosis. Finally we’re left with an infinite cat purring locked groove to send you to sleep. Great ep from start to finish. All copies come with a free Peter plectrum and vivod sticker. Following critically acclaimed releases with Dance Regular and Rhythm Section (releasing under SAUL with Jack Stephenson-Oliver), London-based producer/DJ Footshooter lands on Astral Black with his full-length debut, the 'Southside Hymns' LP.
'Southside Hymns' is a decadent tribute to the community, club nights and culture of London that Barney Whittaker (Footshooter) is intrinsically a part of. This ethos is embodied in the skippy, broken-beat of the MA.MOYO featuring 'Passing Clouds' (a tribute to the community-ran venue of the same name), whilst the piercing synth stabs and horn laden grooves of 'Juno Café' is a nod to the South East London club space it's named after.
Following the Albertina-featuring single 'Twilight', the EP transitions from a dusk drive through the city - taking in the sights and sounds of Whittaker's favourite foliage-flaunting haunts, to parking the listener firmly on the dance floor with the trunk rattling bass of 'Untether' and the Natty Wylah featuring 'Bloom'.
Through enlisting a guest cast including the likes of vocalists MA.MOYO, Natty Wylah & Albertina, guest instrumentalists and long-term collaborators Wilf Petherbridge, Isobel Risk, Ebyan Rezguli & James Mollison, as well as artwork by Illustrator & NTS resident Anu Ambasna - Footshooter has ensured that 'Southside Hymns' at once embodies the contemporary London music community that it is also a dedication to.

UK label Wisdom Teeth returns with its third long-form offering - Sculpturegardening: a new LP by Mexico City-based artist and producer, Tristan Arp. Incorporating elements of ambient, glitch, microhouse and downtempo, it’s an otherworldly record populated by knotty modular textures, blossoming floral melodies, tight pointillist rhythms and glossy acoustic instrumentation. The record was born from a process of “collaborating with machines”: using modular synthesisers to generate probabilistic melodies and rhythms, with the artist taking on the role of sculptor and curator. Throughout, the boundaries between the organic and digital are playfully blurred: we hear synthesisers played by guitars; emotive and distinctly human melodies generated by modular circuits; digital percussion drummed by hand; and live cello processed with a digital finish. The results sometimes recall Roman Flügel at his most colourful, or Benge’s meandering synth workouts, and even at times echo the dubbed-out cello experiments of Arthur Russell. But really sculpturegardening occupies a sonic world of its own, born from a unique web of happy accidents and incidental arrangements.
The record’s bright colours and subtle rhythms make it a fitting follow-up to K-LONE’s 2020 LP Cape Cira and Facta’s 2021 LP Blush, and place it neatly alongside the work of label mates Duckett, Benoit B, Steevio and Iglew. “With sculpturegardening, my concept was to approach music like gardening. I collaborated with machines inspired by the way a gardener collaborates with the earth. A gardener creates the conditions for the plants to come to life and develop on their own. In a similar way, I created a set of conditions and probabilities for the music to make itself. Who is making the music here? “A sculpture garden to me can be a really beautiful environment of balance between randomness and order––between nature and human interaction. Things that are either extremely organized or completely random tend to not resonate with us. On the other hand, something very interesting happens when a balance between the randomness and organization is struck. I invented this verb sculpturegardening to represent creating with the aim of this balance, and the with the aim of building a world in which each piece is a zone, or a sculpture in a garden.”
The record will be twinned with a physical iteration - a sound installation at an exhibition curated by Tristan Arp titled Nada Se Pierde; Todo Se Transforma. The show opens on 9th October in Mexico City at Avant.dev. The physical sculpture garden will be a collaboration with Mexican sculptor Pablo Arellano. The sound installation will centre around a 4-channel audio system that gives voice to different sculptures and allows visitors to create a mix of the sounds depending on their position in the garden.

The culmination of a working relationship that started in 2019, "Godless" is the first full-length release from Jonathan "Stave" Krohn (also known for his work as half of Talker on Downwards) and Thomas "Karim Maas" Cooper. After a joint live p.a. with labelmates in Bristol (suggested by UVB-76 label co-owner Nick Callaghan) a shared interest in both Birmingham-influenced techno, as well as forward-thinking bass and breaks music, led to further collaborations, with Krohn and Cooper pushing rhythm tracks and loops back and forth from their home studios based out of Chicago and Bristol respectively.
"Godless" finds Krohn and Cooper in fine form - it's a cinematic, richly detailed recording that represents some of their best material to date. After a tension-filled "Interlude", the LP kicks off with the brooding, slow-motion "Loop 002", melding scorched-earth/salted ground textures with blackened dub sonics to devastating effect. "D_A_T" follows, a throbbing industrial techno track with a mind-meltingly abrasive and psychedelic breakdown and conclusion. Side A finishes with "Blakk", a desolate, wind-swept landscape that cuts to the bone.
The second half picks up where the first half left off, with opener "track4" - all ominous atmospherics, howling feedback, and existential dread. "Project 1" and "Plan" are LP highlights here - both relentless rhythmic juggernauts that ratchet up the tension and never let up - all nervous energy and pulse-quickening suspense. The release concludes with the title track, a cacophonous and cauterising piece with evocative vocal samples and blasts of harsh noise.

The new album from FLYING LOTUS, featuring music from the Netflix original anime series ‘Yasuke’.
Red vinyl LP in printed inner sleeve in printed outer wrapped with obi strip plus digital download card insert.
Three years in the making, Netflix’s ‘Yasuke’ is a sixepisode anime series created by Bronx-bred and Japan-based television animation creator, producer and director LeSean Thomas (‘Cannon Busters’, ‘Children of Ether’, ‘The Boondocks’) and starring actor / executive producer LaKeith Stanfield (‘Atlanta’, ‘Sorry To Bother You’) as the voice of the title character. ‘Yasuke’ tells the story of a samurai warrior of African descent in a fantastical alternate universe version of feudal Japan full of magic, mechs and of course, swordplay.
A dream project for the producer, Flying Lotus consulted on the story, working alongside renowned anime creators Studio MAPPA as an executive producer on the project. The skillset of the GRAMMY Award-winning producer is on complete display on the album, hybridizing synth melodies, bass lines and machine generated drum patterns while exploring new sonic territory - traditional Japanese percussion
instruments like the taiko and hyōshigi and west African percussion - a nod to the Afro-Japanese, feudal yet futuristic world Yasuke inhabits.

An opportunity to shout about the next generation of musical talent from across the UK, Ireland, US, Middle East, Australia, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
“SHOUTS 2021 celebrates the future sounds of Rhythm Section International and explores our intention to diversify what the label is moving forward. The direction and scope of the label has definitely widened. You reach a turning point when you want to explore other sounds that you’re interested in and the beauty of being an independent label has allowed us to do that. The SHOUTS series gives us an opportunity to release so many genres that we enjoy in one hit, and that
has fed into our overall growth.” - Bradley Zero

Ronan’s journey has seen him move between Boston and New York, Washington State, Bogota, and most recently Mexico City. Rarely in one place for too long, his energy and enthusiasm for his craft carry that same roving sense of adventure, whether in his own expressive productions welding hyper-speed techno and classic hardcore into a dynamic whole, or through his Eternal Ocean imprint, which has notched a string of impressive releases from close friends and like-minded producers. Throughout, a sense of wide-eyed wonder and joy is the constant, an awe for its ability to transport and transcend, to become a calling in its own right, through sound and soul, a grounding force that becomes the guiding path through the world.
It’s that sense of possibility that dominates the sensibility of Vision Quest, Ronan’s second outing on Eternal Ocean, a four track offering recorded in Ridgewood, Queens just before he headed west in 2018. The tracks echo this awareness of a road stretching out before him. These are tunes about the journey, best exemplified by the snaking routes and pathways they pull the listener through: half-time breakdowns, sudden vocal stabs, hard-left turns and sudden shifts of tempo. Where previous Ronan EPs found their strength in meticulous mixing and track-craft, these embrace technique and arrangement as means to an end, resulting in lyrical, ever-evolving tunes that show an artist embracing the time given to create worlds unto themselves.

Cando return to Le Chatroom to inaugurate the label’s first full length EP, backed with remixes by Bakongo and Kouslin and accompanying illustration and graphic design by Charlie Maclagan (AD93/Only Ruins/Shapework).
Since their debut on Livity Sound and subsequent appearances on Par Avion, Pressure Dome and Le Chatroom, Cando have been carefully refining their percussive bass heavy sound. The ‘Clutch’ EP is confident and distinct, from all-out slammers to warm and fuzzy synth excursions — the sound palette is diverse but has Cando written all over it.
The A side kicks off with a heavy percussive track inspired by Bristol Techno and the drumming of Carnival and street parties; ‘Clutch’ is a constantly evolving song with Cando’s signature drum fills announcing new percussive patterns that keep the listener on their toes throughout.
Bakongo’s remix follows suit but swaps the swung and syncopated drums for a four-to-the-floor groove, reprogramming the drum flurries of the original into a more stripped back, repetitive and heavier track.
On the flip side, Chad and Owen channel their more melodic sensibilities, first setting the pace for the B side with ‘14U (Drum Mix)’, a lush and spaced out track with bursts of drums that mature into a pulsing pattern. The percussion and synth sounds towards the end of ‘14U’ tease and provide for a seamless segue into the successive track ‘Ambivalence’.
'Ambivalence’ has a blissful and warm aura with strummed plucky synths, building arpeggios and textures which give the track a really organic feel. The drums and tight sub movement provide a strong foundation for the synth motifs and percussion to evolve, distort and crescendo throughout the track ending the EP on an optimistic high, hinting at better times to come.
Two extra tracks are included as Bandcamp exclusives, 14U (Dub Mix) which strips the percussion and drums back to a minimum and provides a more textural and synth heavy version; and a second remix of ‘Clutch’ by Le Chatroom boss Kouslin, with a tempo change inviting the listener or DJ to a slower pace of 100bpm — perfect for seamlessly transitioning mid-set.
Early support from Surgeon, Peverelist and Hodge.
