The label has been releasing quality dance music for 23 years that has never subscribed to formula but always had an instantly recognizable sound. They have never chased the big names but stuck to what they do best and artists such as Problem Kids, Salt City Orchestra, Kenny Hawkes, Essa, Pa Pa Washington Trio, Crazy Penis and Dirty Jesus can bring a tear to the eyes of ravers of a certain age. Starting off as part of the 'Nu-Brit House' movement tracks such as The Book and Downtime pretty much created a blueprint for what was to come in in house music the following years.

Bradley met Duke Hugh in Amsterdam, when he handed him a green USB stick after a show. He played the promos in the empty club and the first track immediately grabbed his attention - he knew it was something special. When he remembered the hook to Green Leaf the next morning he signed the release almost instantly.
Each song has its own essence, there is absolutely no filler and the entire double pack sits together as a perfect whole. Flirting with aspects of broken beat, Jazz, hip hop and dreamy electronica - Duke Hugh winds together a most idiosyncratic release equally at home on the peak time dancefloor as it would be for a long road trip. Canvas is a big statement from an artist who's here to stay.

No Bad days is back for round 2. ‘In The Galleria’ slides in with dreamlike pads and a real euphoric feel to the whole track. Just right for those Balearic sunsets. Second on the A side is ‘Celestial Bodies’ - a melodic freestyle jam that makes us feel like we’re down at the arcade playing ‘Out Run’ on a dusty mega drive.
Over to the flip we start off with the title track, ‘Lunar Waves’ beginning with a tougher feel it hints at a hardware acid workout... but half way in Roberto hits you with those dreamy pads again and just has us in his hands for that synth solo at the end! Rounding off the EP perfectly is ‘When U Come Around’, a real ‘end of summer sitting down at the park with your mates’ kind of track...mmm..

Groove Line Records follows up the Change remix 12” from the summer with the latest instalment of our officially licensed disco remix 12”s. Next up are two exceptional disco remixes of The Salsoul Orchestra classics, “Tale of Three Cities” and “Tangerine”, by Mike Maurro, whose recent The Mike Maurro Peak Hour Remixes box set has cemented the New York producer’s reputation as one of the most respected disco remixers on the scene right now.
Side A features “Tale of Three Cities” (Mike Maurro Disco Remix), one of The Salsoul Orchestra’s funkiest cuts, written by bass player Ron Baker for their debut LP. Maurro extends the arrangement to nine minutes, concentrating on the driving beat and rhythm section for the intro, subtly adding the guitar and keyboard parts before the first orchestral bridge at 1m36. Stripping back much of the orchestral elements throughout the mix he gives more space to the deftly executed solo guitar and keyboard passages and gives special attention to Vincent Montana’s vibes, taking the dancer on a beautiful journey through the Salsoul sound concluding with an instrumental, ethereal outro.
Side AA features “Tangerine” (Mike Maurro Disco Remix), Vincent Montana’s skillfully rearranged version of the lilting Jimmy Dorsey pop standard which was the group’s biggest pop hit, also from their debut LP. Adding a further 6 minutes to the original version, again Maurro respectfully gives the orchestration more room to breathe over the propulsive rhythm section, gaining patient momentum throughout while exposing the best instrumental elements of the original and sprinkling just the right amount of The Sweethearts of Sigma’s vocal refrains on top. Both mixes were initially released on Groove Line’s 3CD 40th Anniversary Salsoul Orchestra Anthology as exclusive tracks.
All Groove Line Records releases are fully licensed and cut at Half Speed by Matt Colton at Alchemy (Mastering Engineer of the Year 2013). All vinyl is heavy weight 180g manufactured by Optimal Media in Germany, one of the world’s finest pressing plants. Groove Line Records cut no corners when making sure that each and every one of our releases has the highest quality performance possible.
Groove Line Records’ deluxe 12” release of The Salsoul Orchestra “Tale of Three Cities (Mike Maurro Disco Remix)” backed with “Tangerine (Mike Maurro Disco Remix)” is an essential purchase for any serious Disco, Funk, Soul or Dance vinyl collector who demands the very best in quality vinyl pressings.

Opilec Music is proud to bring you the first ever remix album of San Francisco's cult synthesizer-punk legends, The UNITS! One of America's first synthesizer bands and pioneers of a genre now known as synthpunk, The Units were notable for their use of synthesizers in place of guitars, and multimedia performances featuring multiple projections of satirical, instructional films critical of conformity and consumerism... predating MTV and 25 years before the birth of YouTube!
This is a definitive collection of over 24 of the band's original songs written between 1977 and 1984 and remixed for the dance floor in 2010 by a renowned and international cast of over 40 DJs, producers and bands active in the contemporary club scene.
This project celebrates the futuristic Units along with the innovative DJs that first played them.
Like COSMIC DISCO pioneer Daniele Baldelli, who remixed early 7" Units records "live" on the dance floor as early as 1979, ELECTRO ITALO DISCO pioneers and contemporaries of The Units, like Klein & M.B.O., N.O.I.A. and Alexander Robotnick, along with Nu-Disco and contemporary club scene trend setters like Gianluca Pandullo of I-Robots and Nemesi …
All of whom did remixes for this project!
Tracks include remixes/reworks of The Units most sought-after early singles and selections from their first LP, Digital Stimulation, along with remixes culled from The Units early demos, recordings made for art happenings, film, and more.
This remix album is a view into The Units' seminal years, as well as a tribute to the early DJs and Clubs that played their records in creative ways … giving you a glimpse into how the innovative music that ended up on the dance floor was often an unintentional collaboration between DJs and bands, inspiring each other and cheering each other on. "CONNECTIONS" is a collaborative step from the past & present … into the viral remix culture of the future of electronic music and videos ... and the fantastic clubs they are played in.
Units songs that are remixed/reworked include High Pressure Days, Warm Moving Bodies, I-Night, Cannibals, The Right Man, Go, Zombo, I-5, East West, Run, Red, Bird River, Bug Boy, More Alike, That Funky Thang, We Need a Doctor's Son, Passion of Patterns, One Man, Life is Good Now, Moving Bodies, Contemporary Emotions, Tight Fit, Cowboy, Straight Lines and more...

Following the widely acclaimed releases of Fouk & Kito Jempere, our autumn release is nothing but a strictly family affair. Kid Grimm is indeed a brand new alias of our dear friend Alland Byallo, longtime collaborator of the label both for his production & awesome graphic works. With an impressive discography crossing over quality imprints such as Third Ear, Bad Animal, Real Tone or Rawax, the San Francisco born and Berlin resident always got something exciting coming out of his machines.
Being always one of the very first lucky ones to listen to his fresh material, Dairmount discovered one year ago a bouncy little tune called Monkey Disco. He instantly felt in love with the hybrid mixture of catchy "bumpty bump" basslines & chords and the lose synths wizardy of Alland. A surprisingly timeless vibe that could have been blessed by an imaginary collaboration between Derrick Carter and Floating Points.
It took one more collective mixing session at Sasse's Blackhead studio and the expert mastering of Atjazz to put the final touch to this very first Kid Grimm single.
And as great minds never come alone, Dairmount offered to one ilustrous label fan to revamp Alland's track. The man who instantly approved the original was none other than Deep House legend Charles Webster and he delivered amazing perspectives reminiscent of the universe of abstract House geniuses as Dj Koze or Pépé Bradock.
An absolutely delightful package for all connoisseurs...
