Released 19th October
Yes - this is a very special record: NYC‘s Phenomenal Handclap Band meets London’s Ray Mang - the psychedelic soul disciples meet the disco champ by way of remix. Ray Mang is a hero to fans of underground disco: remixer, collector, producer, DJ - he is part of that magic circle of London DJ connoisseurs around DJ Harvey. He has the magic disco touch, and has applied it to great effect to PHB’s “Judge Not". He did a fresh, new take on house-heavy gospel disco that is sure to fill any dancefloor. Try it! For those who don’t know New York’s almost legendary band: The Phenomenal Handclap Band is led by producer Daniel Collás, and consists of some of New York’s finest new soul & disco musicians. Some of them used to play in the Amy Winehouse band and others can be heard on some of Mark Ronson’s productions. Their biggest moment was when they released their single “15 to 20″ some years ago (on Gomma Records) and Paul McCartney wrote them a letter about how much he loved that song when he heard it on BBC Radio 1. On “Judge Not” they come up with dazzling piano lines, a deep rare funk rhythm section, and a street corner gospel choir that brings you to your feet. Ray Mang heard the original version of this song and was hyped to become involved in the remix, and the pairing is complementary to say the least. Many of you know PHB from their collaborations with such luminaries as Peaches or Marcos Valle or Bryan Ferry, a prime appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, and direct support on Bryan Ferry’s US tour. The group is currently finishing a new album.

SAFT is proud to present the official re-issue of the 1986 Joan Bibiloni Band classic 'The Boogie'. The vocals by Deborah Carter still sound as relevant and uplifting as ever. The sought after guitar licks of Bibiloni have appealed to a lot of generations ever since he started making name for himself in the early eighties. While in recent times some of the more experimental work has been re-issued and compiled through some respected labels, the dancefloor classic 'The Boogie' still remains the pinnacle of the guitarist more dancefloor oriented work.
In this re-release package you can find an original version (A1), that is exactly the same as on the 7" that first appeared through Bibiloni's own Blau imprint in 86'. Also on the A side, an extended DJ-friendly version that spans just over five minutes is present.
For the flipside, Norwegian dancefloor expert DJ Sotofett has crafted a surreal dub tainted experience from the original which spans over 13 minutes and touches a lot of ground. Whilst starting with a percussive intro, Sotofett uses a lot of FX and dub style delays to work slowely towards an intense dancefloor experience. Around eight minutes some grandiose synth work is being introduced while the dub elements keep on singing. DJ Sotofett's version is called Ultra Vires Dub for a reason.

b1. Joan Bibiloni Band - The Boogie (DJ Sotofett's Ultra Vires Dub) (Dj Sotofett remix)

You should all know by now I have collected a good few records in my time, hunting down that perfect beat. In search of that special piece I have found a deep love for the old soul ballads and funk that were for me great social statements, telling it just how it was.
Growing up with these tunes and owning them I began to realise if someone didn't represent them to the next generation they would be long lost and forgotten. So please... enjoy this time capsule of music from another time... you'll hear nothing's changed!

Having played at On Loop’s 1st birthday in 2017 after guesting on Moxie’s NTS show the previous year, we are delighted to welcome LK back to the family for our seventh release. Hailing from Leeds, he’s been a producer on the rise for a few years now after standout releases on labels like Shall Not Fade and Ruff Draft. Previously releasing under the alias Viers, as LK he offers something with a more soulful touch. Each offering on the three-tracker brings something slightly different to the package. Title track ‘Dreams’ has been made with the dancefloor in mind, whilst the summery ‘(I Wanna) Make Luv 2 U’ is drawn from laid-back Soul and Motown influences. Slow burner ‘Summer Of 93’ closes the EP, with a direct nod to the slinky vibes of 70s disco.
