Manuel Darquart close the release with ‘Track A’, echoing ideas that are at the root of the Semi Delicious sound. Lush percussion and phasing chords wander through a hefty drum groove to make this the perfect soundtrack for your next Piña colada on a sunny beach break!
London based Italo-house afficionado Demi Riquísimo’s Semi Delicious continues to roll out superb releases with consistent development in its sound. As the label matures towards its third year of operation, Demi invites a host of UK talent for the third Various Artists release to date.
Demi kicks things off with his archetypal soul-soothing disco-tinged house. Live percussion grooves interlock punchy kicks and mesmerising arpeggios sprawl out across the top. With his signature FM synth line riding across the top and accompanying chord grooves, Demi’s ‘Sanitise’ is an instantly distinguishable dance floor heater from the outset!
Originally hailing from the Motor City, Detroit, the now London-based Demi Riquísimo lands back down on his Semi Delicious white label imprint and provides a new intricate four-track EP, ‘Mirage Over’.
Demi Riquísimo unsurprisingly explores a range of sonic ideas on this EP, from the punchy, breaks-filled title track, ‘Mirage Over’, which blends juxtaposing soft synths and sequenced acid-like top-lines to the track ‘Rocking You Internally’ which delivers bubbling vocal chops and dream-like vocals riding over 80’s style reverbed drums.
Demi Riquísimo follows his superb ‘Better Days’ VA with a hefty six-track remix EP on his ever- evolving Semi Delicious record label. Not surprisingly, Demi garners reworks from some of the hottest names in the underground circuit at the minute, each reinventing his truly original dancefloor sounds with their own unique tinge.
Kassian come screaming in with a super-chuggin’ up-tempo revamp on ’54 Reasons’. Nip-tuck- tight 4x4 house groove with a wonky, explorative synth bassline that marries the soft, undulating synth pads and sensual vocal snippets harmoniously. T. Jacques offers up his atypical rolling acid- house. Blending trance-like tones with buckets of organic drum machines and M1 Organ stabs that just never get old.
The cheeky chaps Jive Talk present a remix unlike any other, fusing boogie-funk and Greg Wilson style electro with naked bassline squelches and gurn-worthy pads primed for the chill-out room. Black Loops takes his signature sound to ‘Certified’, while swapping out his usual deep-house sound for some raw UK 2-step beats.
‘Machine Tagine’ gets a racing-rework from Manuel Darquart, primed with 606 hi-hats and endlessly modulating FM basslines for this extremely hard-hitting remix. Finally, Holding Hands regular Baby Rollén whips up some 90’s breakbeat across ‘Spice Rack’, allowing Demi’s immaculate hook-writing to shine through in his mix.
The inimitable, Detroit-born, UK based producer and DJ, Demi Riquísimo returns to his unbounded Semi Delicious imprint with a 4-track EP with feature vocals from one of London’s most in-demand DJs - Lulah Francs.
Delivering another delectable spread of speaker rumbling house music in a variety of dancefloor flavours, Demi sets off with title track ‘Rush Common’. A steady rolling kick, with his signature live-feel hi-hats are joined by a rumbling 909 groove and massive synth chords and a wandering acid-lead. Simple, effective, fearless house music.
‘Paroche’ brings the authentic Italo-influenced flavours that Demi has become renowned for. Sampled female vocal chants dissect a metric, live drum groove with lush pads and an oozing, wandering arp synth running through the centre. – Demi also includes a huuuuge, Extended Balearic Mix for the bubbling Ibiza terraces throughout the summer.
‘Circulate’ showcases fellow Londoner Lulah Francs vocal leads, across a gnarly FM synth lead and sassy Roland drum groove. Lulah’s enchanting vocals give this one an extra edge to captivate any dance floor it meets.
‘Don’t Feed The Tiger’ combines Indo-influences with modal vocals and an eastern instrumentation to bask in under the midday sun. A slower tempo from a live-drum groove offers space to move between shaded trees, barefoot in the Balearic sands.
Demi Riquísimo returns to his Semi Delicious hand-stamped white label with another four impeccable disco fusion party tracks. Guitar lead ‘Shameless Progression’ follows skittering disco hats across a scape of lasers, a pulsing bassline and Italo synth business. ‘Encona’ is a summery re-edit of a foreign disco classic you'll no doubt recognise (shh..), Demi has added his naughty robotic FM bassline and some proper drum chunk to the mix, a tasteful re-hash right until the end.
‘Second Element’ is a progressive disco tech crossover. Leading with a fat kick drum, trance- inducing chord patterns, acid flutters and topped off with 70’s soul edged vocal slices. ‘Spice Rack’ delves deep into the world of synthesis, an acoustic drum kit keeps pace while soft ambient chord progressions float delicately over with a hooky synth lead to top it off. A diverse collection of contrasting tracks, all with Demi’s superb signature across them.
