Rob Smith aka RSD is a man that should need no introduction - from pioneering trip hop and the foundations of the Bristol sound in the late 80s with Smith & Mighty to writing some of the biggest dubstep tracks of all time under his RSD alias - not to mention killing it to this day with his impeccable DJ sets and fire dubplates - Rob is nothing short of a certified legend. It is a great honour to welcome him back to Foundation Audio with 2 MASSIVE cuts for the next in our 10” series.
'Old Fish' is a rework of his classic 2007 tune 'Kingfisher' aptly titled 'Old Fish' 'Because it's a version of an old tune... and it stinks!!!'
'Shell Fish' was going to be called 'New Fish' because it's based on the Kingfisher template but changed to 'Shell Fish' when I added samples from Ghost In The Shell' says the man himself.
Teffa makes a more than welcome return to Foundation Audio with the 'Advance EP' featuring four of his greatest productions to date! The more attentive dubstep connoisseurs amongst you might well recognise 'Advance' which has been doing the rounds for a hot minute now mashing up countless raves. The rest of the EP ain't no joke either.. pure FYAH from front to back! Love to Teffa each n every.
FAVX005 is here! Chadlad x that handsome French nutter - What more could you want from a dubstep record? Both tunes supported by the big don Mala. Respect!
Young gun and badman producer Retina returns to Foundation Audio for his debut vinyl release and quite frankly it slaps!!!!
‘Dusted’ kicks things off with a hyper 4x4 beat and an eratic bassline – this one comes flying straight out of the gates! ‘Nameless and Nothing’ a meaner, beast with its eerie atmospheres and plodding bassline takes the A2 spot. Flip the record and we have ‘No Fear I’ a subby monster best described by the word SUB. ‘If Not The Orb’ closes proceedings with a 07-08 old skool antisocial kinda vibe wrapping up the ep perfectly. Dubstep goodness from front to back and solid proof that Americans can also do the dubstep.

It is a great honour to welcome the man himself to Foundation Audio with 2 classic cuts for the next in our 10” series. A side ‘Dr Woh’ is a heavy stepper version of the Dr Who theme tune originally written for a Redbull soundclash with subloaded in 2014 as a friendly lighthearted sound clash style dis to a certain Bristol producer whose dad played one of the doctors.
On the flip side we have ‘Look’ a 2019 production produced in a friends studio in the Philippines. RSDs unmistakable trademark sound is stamped firmly all over this one - rolling drum breaks, big basslines and catchy synth hooks all work in perfect harmony while staying truly dubwise throughout.
Big up Bristol’s finest for providing us with another killer plate. We trust you’ll enjoy this one as much as us!
Chad Dubz returns to his beloved Foundation Audio with the Ghostin’ EP. ‘Anxious’ kicks things off; a minimal sound system wobbler filled with moody bass lines and eerie atmospheres. This one’s a creeper. Title track ‘Ghostin’, a collaboration with Teffa keeps the theme rolling with its militant wubs and haunting melodies – spooky business indeed!
Flip the wax and we have ‘Headnod’ delivering sound system business with rugged drums, weighty basslines and rough and ready dub siren abuse. Closer ‘Let Go’ rounds off the EP perfectly with its strong jungle and garage influenced vibes.
All in all this is Chad Dubz most personal and cohesive EP to date and a great way to enter 2020 for both the producer and his label.
Clearlight brings his wonderfully tripped out production wizardry to Foundation Audio for a 3 track journey into the void!
Clearlight has always stood out from the crowd and pushed boundaries with his unique take on the genre. It sounds like dubstep swallowed a bottle of LSD… or smoked some DMT… There’s no point going into detailed track summary as it won’t do the music justice, - just sit back, spark one up and get sucked into another dimension.
Foundation Audio are back at it again dropping this limited 10” gem out of nowhere. Sibla & Teffa make for a perfect combination on the buttons providing those warm vintage tones and classy beats that we’ve come to expect from the duo. ‘Bobby’ is a discordant swaggery monster steeped in jazz with the most concrete of sub heavy grooves. Truly unique stuff from the production dream team.
‘I Wonder Why’ takes the energy down a notch with its laid back minimal bassline and dubbed out effects, creating that blissful dubbed out vibe perfect for sparking one up… Dubstep perfection once again from Sibla, Teffa and the Foundation Audio camp!!!
Zygos has been non-stop killing it for a good few years now. Every dub he churns out is a madness and he is constantly pushing and evolving his sound for the better. We couldn't be happier to get the man himself back for his third release and second wax outing on the label. His signature techno / industrial influenced sound runs throughout the EP from the twists and turns of Rotation to the deep dark sound designs of Sick as a Dog. Big ups Georgio on this wikid wikid plate!!!
Somah has been turning heads throughout the dubstep scene with recent support from Mala, Jack Sparrow and J: Kenzo to name a few. Within the last year he has released music on Chord Marauders, Scrub a Dub and Natural Selectas. Make no mistake Somah’s doing the bits.
Here he brings three deep, dark and superbly produced heaters to Foundation Audio for an incredibly impressive debut solo 12”. FYAHHHH!!!!!
Foundation Audio follow up their sold out FAVX001 plate from Quasar with Raremans long awaited debut release! 01425 is steeped in golden era DMZ vibes with its laid back beat, eerie atmospheres and rude boy basslines. This one’s got classic wobbler written all over it! Flip side ‘Why Didn’t You Realise Before’ switches up the mood with its somber Rhodes piano tones and pots and pans like percussion to create another seriously classy joint. What we have here are 2 massive tunes from Rareman showing 2 different sides to his production. Class from front to back, debuts don’t come much better than this. Big up Rareman on this killa plate!
We are super stoked to welcome back 3WA aka The Portuguese Serial Killer aka The Christiano Ronaldo of Dubstep for another fire release on Foundation Audio (this time around getting the vinyl treatment)! Pedro has got many tricks up his sleeves. Here are 4 of his finest. Make no mistake he will nutmeg you, dribble around you, Ronaldo chop past you and handball the finest goal without the ref seeing (and he’ll make it look easyyyy)… What’s more to say? The guys a wizard and makes some of the most interesting music in the Dubstep scene. Get to know if you don’t already!!!
Tetrad makes a welcome return to Foundation Audio for the labels 10th 12” vinyl release, precisely a year after his debut 12” with brother Dillon aka Ahkur.
FAV010 is overflowing with big bass lines and dub influenced soundscapes which take you on a journey from beginning to end. Sound system music at its finest from the LA based dub head and a fitting way to celebrate this milestone for the label.
Remy Gallet aka Quasar has been making some serious movements in the dubstep scene of late, with radio support from the likes of J:Kenzo on his acclaimed Rinse show. Here he blesses Foundation Audios new 10” hand stamped series FAVX with 2 sought after riddims that have been doing damage in the dance since their creation.
A side ‘It’s Over VIP’ is a flip of the classic Portishead tune ‘Biscuit’ - and boy, oh boy has he done the original justice and then some! The track is full of rolling basslines and percussion. Odd vocal snips from the original give space to an otherwise unrelenting track that has got classic written all over it.
B side ‘Unrealistic Voices’ with fellow Frenchman Ourman is a moodier affair with its head nodding sub bassline and eastern string melody. Full system pressure from front to back.
Quasar and Foundation Audio have pulled out all the stops on this release. Debut records don’t come much better than this, so hat’s off to Remy for this killa plate.
The tune ‘Strength’ was written for my partner Bozanne Evans. This EP is dedicated to her.
Side note: The tracks ‘I’ and ‘Strength’ were originally going to be released as UNITY006 on the label ‘Unity Through Sound’ before they folded after their fifth release.
I didn’t want the release to go to waste so decided to put them out on my label taking advantage of the 12” format by including a personal favorite of mine ‘Life’ and Ill_Ks monstrous remix of ‘I’.
This is my most personal release to date and I hope you enjoy it.
Georgio Roumans aka Zygos has been making a name for himself recently with his incredible production skills, crazy work rate and mean selection of dubplates. His hard work has been paying off recently with stellar releases on top labels Rarefied, Subaltern and Unity Through Sound. Here he brings four tracks exclusively to Foundation Audio, each with their own unique flavor and vibe, but all carrying Zygos’s signature sound - which if you didn’t already know is dark and gully as fuck and a perfect fit for the label. Essential Dubstep pressure from front to back, Zygos has smashed it again!
Fresh off the back of a chart topping Unity Through Sound release Foundation Audio head honcho Chad Dubz comes correct with three sound system bangers ready for the dance! Opener “Kingdom Dub” is a relentless display of dubstep pressure with its gnarly, pulsating sub twisting and turning throughout the track to devastating effect. It has been a firm favorite in Chads sets over the past year and is certified to destroy the dance floor. As the name suggests “Space Cadet” is a wavier affair. - Its peculiar drum patterns and quirky effects combine to form a superbly strange track that retains the heavy sub sensibilities and darkness of its counterparts. Closer “Drainpipe” keeps the dubstep fundamentals in tact with heavy subs, deranged mids, sparse atmospheres and industrial sounding percussion to create a mechanical monster, rapidly building momentum until it turns into all manner of chaos on the second drop. With FAV005, Chad Dubz has created a fine display of sound system- shaking-pure-dubstep-musical-goodness with possibly his best release yet... Essential! FAV004 is finally upon us and it comes courtesy of L.A based Cheyne Taylor Bush A.K.A Tetrad who has been on fire recently, fresh off the back of an inspired and well received ZamZam release last year. Here he is joined by brother Dillon Bush A.K.A Ahkur on opener "Ashes Fall", a seriously dark piece of music and possibly Tetrads heaviest production to date. An eerie intro with a haunting vocal sample drop into an assault of pure dubstep pressure which is sure to ignite dance floors the world over.
Flip side "Crumble" is a more stripped back affair with a nod to the classic sounds of dub with its delayed snares, skanks and FX. What really sets this tune apart though is the overwhelming power of the sub, with a weight-line so devastating it could crumble cities let alone the dance!
Here brothers Tetrad and Ahkur have succeeded in providing an outstanding plate, absolutely brimming with sound system material in its purest form. Essential.
DTR makes a welcome return to Foundation Audio with three impeccable heaters for which you simply ain’t ready. The label starts 2017 off with a bang, as its next physical release features the eagerly awaited 'First Rhythm' backed with a dubwise collaboration with dub wizard Bukkha and man of the moment Akcept’s essential remix of label anthem 'Walls of Babylon'. Bridging the gap between Taiwan, Spain and New Zealand, DTR, Bukkha and Akcept have managed to put together a record that has been all over the news. Foundation Audio presents ‘FAV003’.
DTR has been stirring up soundsystem culture a fair bit over the past year, with his debut album showing that whatever tracks he pushes through his analogue audio chain simply turn into gold. His ‘FA018’ is still the main result of this, and is confirmed a timeless seller.
DTRs original ‘First Rhythm’ echoes the soul of dub music vibrantly; a cut that nearly overflows to that darker tip Foundation Audio is notorious for. Profound vocal lines and weighty bass lines quickly pick up to form a wild beast only DTR knows how to control. The melodica in ‘Between The Lions’ glides smoothly over a hotbed of dub fundamentals, in a joint effort with Bukkha. Its core sound forged by the duo is exactly what you need before Akcept goes off with his anthemic interpretation of ‘Walls of Babylon’. As if DTR’s original version wasn’t enough already: Akcept’s piece continues to do a serious amount of damage. For many, DTR’s forthcoming vinyl title has been a popular plate to look out for - and will most definitely fire up the bass charts in 2017. Essential listening!
ILL_K is no stranger to the underground bass music scene with releases on top labels such as Paradise Lost, Alphacut and NORD label showcasing a wide range of styles from downtempo to jungle with his signature precision sound. Here he makes a welcome return to Foundation Audio with 2 tracks that showcase ILL_Ks skill and versatility as a producer.
‘Distortion Dub’ is a 140bpm monster with layers of distortion oozing over the heaviest of subs – hard as nails and guaranteed to shake the system!
Flip side ‘Draht’ is a 170bpm half time dubwise steppa that will appeal to anyone into the dubbier side of the music spectrum. Essential listening.
