With open arms we welcome Allied to the roster for our 6th Concussion Release.
Allied is the alter ego of Brighton based Ali Seewoonarain who over the last decade has had a consistent output of great material on a myriad of labels. Such as; Sinuous Records, Rise Audio and the BNKR series by Methlab, among many others.
A) Allied - Nth Degree Allied kicks off the release with the A-side “Nth Degree”. As we roll into the spacious intro of the track, one seamlessly floats around space with a funky drummer playing the soundtrack to the journey at hand. The drums fade away and make room for stabs that rhythmically lead into the main section. Ready, set, Warp speed engaged.
Retaining the intro funk it brings you into a stomper of grand proportions that just keeps on rolling.
The fast paced sounds break down into a moment of bliss, but the journey is far from over. The drop kicks in with arpeggiating soundscapes echoing off into another dimension sculpting a world before your very eyes.
B) Allied & Lockjaw – Flow State Next up Allied teams up with Australian based Lockjaw. With this track we’re roaming around the jungles of space. The sounds of birds, nature and more are laced within the deep grooves of bell hits that fill the forest sounding landscape of the introduction.
Crunchy-distorted bass hits shift the vibe to a strong, deep stepping track which will surely be a treat for any soundsystem lover.
Trading out the distorted bass grooves for shuffle hits give the track a well thought out diversity within the switch as it blends the deeper bass grooves with more melodic elements.
The breakdown is nothing short of sweet as it gives you a clear moment to collect your thoughts. It encompasses the vibe of the intro with a grand buildup that perfectly prepares you for the second, soul twisting drop.
Having released on numerous imprints such as Dom and Roland productions, Mindtech, Tam, 20/20 LDN as well as being praised and supported by artists such as Noisia, Dom and Roland, Ulterior Motive, Xanadu, Foreign Concept and loads more, we at Concussion records are very proud to present an extremely versatile, Moscow based producer, Mr. Frenkie.
We start off straight with the rolling ‘Respawn’ that feels like you’re floating into an endless dream, before it breaks down with a techy stab buildup, which eases into the drop perfectly.
Rolling drums and crashing hats fill the heavyweight, subby landscape before being knocked back by the technical prowess of Mr. Frenkie's sound design.
It breaks down into the second act of the dream in which you don’t know whether to feel relieved, or be on your guard as the next drop sneaks up on you.
On the flipside we have ‘Tire Fire’, splashy snares and breaks in a steppy groove, countered by floaty stabs set the mood for the tune.
Going into the drop the groove becomes ampli- fied by crunchy reeses which makes sure you bounce your way across from left to right.
Carefully crafted breaks bring the track back into a switch that amplifies the bounce to more rave orientated sounds. After that we ease out to the breakdown in which we casually prepare you for another round of fire.
Kantyze tune on CNCSN001, Prelude To Schism, is a spine-chilling tribute to the future. Out of this world beats get matched with an emotional vocal line, as the duo put their best into what they do. Driving bass sets the course after the drop, and more effects are added in later. This is a perfect introduction to Concussion Records, and will have fans screaming for more.
Thanos takes you on a journey into the galaxy, moving your soul as well as your mind. Huge rumbling basslines collide in your heart and your head, as the three producers pour everything they have into the tune. Breakneck beats on the one hand, deft brushes of samples on the other, this is one tune which has it all. Nothing will prepare you for the power of Thanos, but get ready anyhow.
Kantyze are a duo consisting out of Feubo & Knockoutz, they’re a born and bred pillar of the Tours (France) underground music scene who have a combined experience of over 20 years of drum and bass music. Gathering releases on labels such as Citrus, Dutty Audio, Mindtech, Fokuz and forthcoming releases on Renegade Hardware & Kosenprod these guys are definitely a staple of the underground French producer scene.
With support from big guns such as C4C, Optiv&BTK, The Upbeats, State Of Mind, June Miller, Audio and right after the release of their 4th album on Platform Recordings. We are proud to present their tracks ‘Get Over Here’ and ‘Gipsy Curse’ for their second release on Concussion Records for CNCSN004.
We start off with ‘Get Over Here’ which instantly grasps your mind and locks you into the track on the first hit. Eerily haunting vocal hits graze this cinematic pad filled landscape, with the occasional rougher hit to make it feel like you’re standing in the aftermath of a battlefield.
The drop is the definition of a funky roller which sucks you right into the mesmerizing bass lines, you can’t help but reminisce about the early drum and bass days. The flow of the drums punches through the mix as it keeps giving you little surprises and switch ups throughout the track.
On the flipside we have ‘Gipsy Curse’ which is a real steady creeper. Melancholic synth hits and delayed stabs take you on a ride through what feels a downward spiral of darkness. The more the intro progresses the more you feel as if the curse is creeping on you.
It drops into a stripped-back roller with jaw dropping bass weight and complimentary mid basses, that just for a moment makes you forget you had been cursed by the intro. Quickly bringing you back to reality as a new haunting synth drops back in after the switch making you relive the fear of 'being cursed' all over again.
