After the success of the collaborations on 2019’s Tek 9 lp, Dego and Dom team up again for AKO Beatz, this time a whole LP’s worth of back and forth, which started collaborating in-person pre lockdown, to then be finished virtually.
The sound is a kind of fantasy 1997 where drum and bass had held on to one of its alternate futures. The year 1997 had experimental intricate beats, warm bass, and odd sounds; the skill of playing real instruments matching the knowledge of breakbeat science.
If they hadn’t chosen another path, this is what it could have sounded like. The sound is very now but from another time. Is it the future, is it the past? It’s just anachronistic.

The next installment to the AKO10 collection and this is one of the reasons why we started this series. DJ Trax one of the oldskool dons from the legendary Moving Shadows label. This is DJ Trax debut on AKO and what a way to to start with two stunning and we mean stunning tracks.
The Truth is what we like call hypnotic soulful jungle and when you finally get a copy you will agree. This has been played in AKO HQ every day since we agreed to take it for the label. Stunning intro with a vocal and when the amen and subs come in it will gives you goosebumps. Words will do this track no justice it’s just simply BEAUTIFUL.
Love Lies (the soul) – This track is another incredible soulful track that compliments what this release is all about bringing back that deep soulful vibe in the music where you can just close your eye and let it take you away. Another track where words do it no justice.
AKO Arcade brings you two very personal plates from Stretch and the Reinforced 1995 archive.
The VIP’s to The Guyver’s first mini-album, ‘FEEL’ has a more dancefloor vibe to it and a lot more of the vocal before the switch halfway through that will have you doing the gun finger signal.
‘The Whip’ has been a personal tune to a lot of people and a track that has been requested for a repress so we went one better and agreed to let the VIP or alternative version that was close to being on the mini-album. We like you will enjoy the different take on it with additional breaks, edits and a different bassline.
AKO Arcade brings you two jungle tracks from the vault of DJ Stretch himself. Both are from the late 94′ era.
Dem Want It is a VIP and Ganja Dub are dubplate versions of tracks that never had a full vinyl release. Stretch would always do an alternative version for himself which normally ended up better than the original. After finally locating the DAT and getting them remastered to share with the AKO supporters. Both have lashing breaks and deep sub basslines and old sound tape vocals throughout. These will be limited like the other Arcade releases and once there gone that will be it. We hope you enjoy another piece of history.
